:help: could someone out there please help. I would like to know if anyone knows if there are any programs for funding this surgery. I have insurance but it doesn't cover this surgery. I am diabetic and have back problems and have high cholesterol due to being morbid obest. I am about 200 lbs overweight. My doctor does reccomend this surgery for me. I am so miserable and fight depression. Everytime I try to diet, I end up gaining the weight back and put on more pounds. I'm desperate to find some help to pay for the surgery.

Thank you,

do you own your home? Can you get a 2nd mortgage? Will your bank finance it? How about a 401K loan? I agree with Julie, check out the local surgeons office and ask if they have a finance company they use? Some do, and some don't. My surgeon didn't have one, however, they stated they are working on getting one.

Some have went to Mexico to get the surgery since it is cheaper and they have had great success. However, if you chose to do that route, make sure you have a doctor lined up for fills BEFORE you have your surgery.

I wish you the best.

Just wanted to pop back in and tell you about another finance option I just learned about from a yahoo group I belong to. A lady there stated she got her financing thru capital one healthcare, www.capitalone.com. She stated it took less than 24 hours to get approved and the interest rate was 5.9%. Just thought I would share that with you.

The winner of the band has already been decided. I believe all entries had to be sent in by 12/15.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
