Post Op and moving forward

Recommended Posts

I'm sad that I didn't find this sight/app before I went through the surgery.

I did all my research online and somehow missed this one.

I went through the pre-op pretty much alone and had my surgery on 28Jun13 ... so I'm just about 10 days out and doing "ok" ...

Didn't have too much pain or discomfort actually and was up and walking that same afternoon. Was out of the hospital in 2 days...

I'm taking it slow on the food. after completing the first 7 days of liquid and Soups, tried a scrambled egg at 8 days ... that didn't go over too well ... so waited and tried again this morning and found success, so slowly starting the "soft" food phase.

With the pre-op diet and the first 10 days since surgery, I've lost just at 30 lbs, so really excited about that.

Trying to keep the fluids up and that has been a challenge. I'm one of those gulp and go type drinkers, so learning how to nurse them, but still take my liquids.

Haven't felt too much hunger during this process, so that's good.

Still trying to figure out how all these permanent changes are going to be phased into my life and want to thank you guys for all your input.

This is a great resource!!

Cheers and good luck to everyone on their own journey!!

Welcome, and congratulations!!!! It's interesting to see how doctors' recommendations differ.....for me it will be a week of Clear Liquids, then a week of full liquids, then a week of puree.....and perhaps by the 3 or 4th week soft foods.....Best wishes

Welcome ..I've found this site to be very helpful even when it comes to some of those silly questions you otherwise wouldn't think to ask (or might not want to ask)

Good luck!!

Welcome aboard! I'm also a recent sleever (July 2nd), but I've been hanging around this site for about a year and a half now (first 8 months as a lurker before I took the plunge and joined). Hopefully we can all help each other along the way!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
