DeniseM 238 Posted July 8, 2013 I started at 10 days. It was still really painful to turn and look behind to back up, but other than that, no issues. You do have to be off all your narcotics for at least 24 hours though.
Essenses171 7 Posted July 8, 2013 Hi, I drove on day 4 but it wasn't a great idea. I was only out for about an hour but I was pooped when I returned home. I stepped out quickly yesterday and today and it was better. It's really up to you and how you feel. Listen to your body
SpaceDust 585 Posted July 8, 2013 I'm clear to drive whenever I'm ready (I'm six days out). I only took my Lortab for the first few days, then a couple of nights, but I've been off it since Saturday, so I'm good to hit the road.
DonRodolfo 1,416 Posted July 8, 2013 How long after surgery until you were able to resume driving? Thanks They were more concerned with me driving under the influence of the liquid hydrocodone than they were with how many days after surgery. I drove myself to my 1 week follow-up appointment with no issues.

Bredred 45 Posted July 8, 2013 I drove today for the first time. I'm one week out. I'm feeling pretty good. I had only been using pain meds at night and haven't used any since Thursday night.
PaNailGirl 44 Posted July 8, 2013 Every time I drive I am in so much pain!! I was fine all day today, and as soon as I get in the car to take my daughter to the movies I'm sore! By the time I got home and went to get out of the car it felt like day one! It eases up and goes away eventually, but I'm starting back to work tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to driving! Anyone else have this? Maybe I should try and change my position some.
anialw 1 Posted July 9, 2013 I drove 3 days after and was fine for a 20 minute trip. I was told you need to not have taken the narcotic pain meds 6 hrs prior and then you're fine. But I would also say I did take my time getting in and out of the car.
Tiny One 223 Posted July 9, 2013 Doc had me on 'no strenuous' activities for 4 weeks & driving was on that 'don't' list. No problem for me though because I enjoyed the fact that my husband did all of the driving & ran errands. I took complete advantage. 1 court2180 reacted to this
