I'm drinking the Protein Meal Replacements 8oz every hour almost, equalling 60 grams protein a day and 64 Fluid ounces. Sometimes sugar free Jello or chicken broth instead. Taking required Vitamins

Why am I constantly starving? You would think I'd be used to eating/drinking almost nothing after the 2 wk pre op diet. I'm at post op day 7

Hi! My surgery was June 18th and I feel like I am starving. I wake up with severe hunger pangs to where I am nauseous. I was told by the dietician to keep drinking Water. It doesn't help. I'm eating Protein at every meal but I am terribly hunger just two hours later. My Dr. says that my stomach is getting used to the changes and that it will get better. I'm still waiting.

Are you taking an acid reducer of some kind? I have read here that acid can mimic feelings of hunger. I personally take an acid reducer but I have never been hungry. I struggle to get what's required. Good Luck :-)

I still feel hunger too. Sooo annoying, so I have some kind of Protein, lately I have been chewing on Fiber pills, waiting 30 min then drink Water. I am 15 weeks out, hopefully it will get better.

I am a tad over 2 months post op and I just started getting the hungry feeling a week or 2 ago. It's typically only at night after I get out work but it's endless. I noticed drinking some different things helps a lot (I'm in love with iced sugar free chai. you can get it at any grocery store in the tea/coffee aisle) and also changing my Snacks and meals up to have less carbs and more fruit and veggies. cheese sticks help too. just beware of too much Fiber. it may make you feel full, but it has some other side effects you don't want to deal with. I couldn't do Protein Shakes. I still can't. just like pre op it makes you so hungry and for me, incredibly nauseated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
