Help! Hungry after 1 1/2 weeks

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I think this is my fist post. And I'm coming with a question.

I was sleeved on June 26th, and had absolutely no complications. No nausea, pain, reflux at all. In fact, I remember telling my doc I didn't even feel like I'd had surgery.

Flash forward to today. After being able to eat 6 ounces of yogurt last night, I became worried about my intake. I'm hearing about problems ingesting, mbut I have none of that. In fact, I had a Protein Shake this morning and another just now (4 pm).

While I'm not starving, I don't feel full. Sill craving a sloppy joe sandwich I saw earlier, though my stomach's not growling o anything.

In addition to my two shakes, I have had two glasses of Water so far. Shouldn't I be feeling really stuffed? As crazy as it sounds, I feel like I might be the one person this doesn't work for.

Please respond, because I am just so disenchanted right now. I will remain committed to weight loss, but I was hoping the sleeve would make things a lot easier. Is there a chance that this didn't work for me?

2 Protein Shakes probably won't make you feel "stuffed".

The Protein is great since protein helps so you're not hungry.

The feeling of restriction will be more obvious when you are eating solid protein.

liquids don't stay in your stomach as long.

Cravings can be part of head hunger as opposed to actual hunger.

Good luck!

Yes the restriction won't really come into play until you eat more solid Proteins. And even then depending on how soon you advance you want to be really careful and measure your meals because in the early stages your stomach is still somewhat numb and you might not "feel" the full feeling just yet.

It will get better and all work out just follow your plan and let your stomach heal. :)

Hi I'm 6 weeks post op and had no complications as well. There is much less restriction when you're just on the liquids don't worry once you start eating dense Protein you will really feel it. I have no problems getting anything down and I'm losing great I think I'm down for 34 pounds at this point and I feel great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
