eating bigger portions.

Jessie Lyons'

"they" say you can't stretch your tummy (when 85% of your tummy was taken out, the stretchy part went too)

this is per my surgeon and NUT - and many many many others on the board say the same thing

there is an expression on the board, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should"

in other words if you have found out that you are cabable of eating more - DON'T

at 4.5 months i was still measuring - whatever your proper portion per your NUT tells you is what you should eat

you shouldn't even be aware that you can eat more

"they" say your stomach "relaxes" after a time period

thats better than saying tummy stretches, cuz it doesn't

only eat proper portions - then you won't have to worry that your tummy can hold more

just eat amount that the NUT blessed ;)

keep up the good work/job

good luck

kathy

Need to go back to the basics. Re-evaluate why you wanted to have this surgery done. Be careful because you can stretch out your stomach and the surgery would be all for nothing. Do you want to be overweight the rest of your life? Need to ask yourself that question. You've made it this far, don't revert back to the beginning.

Ive read on alot of websites that the stomach can stretch some after surgery. If you binge and get too full, make the next meal a protien shake and it will actually shrink back down. Its when you overeat meal after meal after meal it will stay stretched out.

I don't understand what she would need to reevaluate, she said she wasn't eating as much but she can eat more now. My surgeon told me you would be able to eat more as time went on not that you stretched out your stomach. Which would mean you wouldn't have to eat six meals a day instead you could just eat three.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
