I use Unjury products (Google the name). Their Vitamins are specially formulated for bariatric surgery patients. Note that Protein, not vitamins is the key to forstall or stop hair loss!

How many grams of Protein do you consume in a day? I was told by my NUT to get at least 80 grams a day if I'm concerned about hair loss. It helps with re-growth.

I take a regular chewable Multivitamin (I can't deal with horse pills) plus I take 2500 mg Biotin capsules every day twice a day. I am only 3 weeks post op so no telling if it'll help when the time comes but Biotin can also help with hair re-growth. As far as I know the Hair loss itself is pretty unavoidable.

Don't be dismayed it will grow back!

Thanks so much! I struggle a lot with my Protein intake. I'm almost 6 months post op and can only intake 2 spoonfuls of food. Maybe if I eat slower my body will take in more. I'm thinking about going back to Protein Shakes so I can get in my protein.

I take a Multivitamin, B12, B1, Vitamin D3 2000IU, Iron, Calcium Ccitrate, Biotin, silica, co enzyme, and calcium. I also take fish oil and a few others I can't think of right now. I get up to 100gms of Protein in on a daily basis. :P My hair is growing very rapid and am increasing visits to my beautician for hair treatment due to growth. I have really healthy hair...... :P

The chewable lemon-lime multis from Bariatric Advantage aren't too bad. I double them. Also 5,000 IU of Vitamin D, Biotin, Vit E, B12 (sublingual). Recently switched to plant-based Iron as the other can cause Constipation.

Also, get Fish Oil. I use Coromega, orange flavor. Comes in a gel pack. GNC has it. The pre and post-op diets don't contain enough good fats. That's why the hair falls out. Vit E and Vit D capsules are really small and are easy to swallow. They help prevent Hair loss also.

Celebrate has a new multi chewy like toffee. Orange and Very berry. I ordered the orange from Amazon and should have them tomorrow. I'll let you know.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
