Has anyone used this powder Protein? I found it at costco. One scoop has 140 calories, 1 gram fat, 3 carbs (1 sugar), and 30 grams of protein. Thanks.

I got the strawberry banana flavor in a tub and just threw the rest away yesterday. It tasted okay at first but I got tired of it quickly. Even with milk I didn't like it.

I used the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% whey Protein in French vanilla, which I bought at GNC. Pre-op I also enjoyed in chocolate but after surgery I didn't care for chocolate. One scoop of vanilla has 120 calories, 3 grams carbs, and 24 grams Protein.< /p>

Thanks DonRodolfo and Isereno. I guess I'm going to buy it since it is about $60 for a 4.5 pound tub which I thought was a good deal. I'm going to be on a 2 week pre-op diet and then 4 weeks liquid post-op diet. I figure if I get tired of it when I first start out I can move it to the back of the shelf for a while and try something different for a bit. I know many people say their likes/dislikes change post surgery, so it won't hurt to have a rarity in the house.

I bought that tub at costco in vanilla shake for $49.99 last month. I have not tried it straight, but use it as a base. I have liked it just fine.

Best shake I've made with it so far - 1 scoop vanilla ON whey Protein isolate + 2 TBSP PB2 + .75 cup nonfat greek yogurt + 1/2 cup Water + 5 ice cubes + blend = yum!

I use this and really like it. It doesn't have that protein smell.

The good news is that costco has an amazing return policy. It you try it and don't like it you can return it.

DaybyDay I forgot about Costco's return policy. Thanks for the reminder.

That is so true - love costco! I had a bad reaction to the B12 I bought there, and I returned it, and easily got my refund.

I LOVE the chocolate 100% whey from costco! It is so so good! I use it as a base with a bit of almond milk and half a banana with some ice... Blend that puppy up... Yummy! Seriously.. It's fantastic.... Also if you have a vitamix blender... You can blend it longer with the ice... And it turns into ice cream!!! Seriously! It comes out so thick you can use an ice cream scooper to serve it with!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
