How long did it take you or should I say how fast did you loose being at a 40 bmi? And also is 40 bmi considered a high or would you say on the low bmi? I'm currently 5'2 weight 220 bmi of 40 and I would love to know how quick it took you to get to goal? Any loose skin?

I was sleeved on May 6 with a Bmi of 41. My start weight was 244 at 5' 5.5''. Today, almost 9 weeks out I weigh 207. I have had a bit of a struggle with my sleeve as it appears to be on the tight side. I am currently consuming approximately 600-700 calories a day, much of that is still Protein Shakes. I actually don't specifically exercise yet but I lead a rather active lifestyle since I am a mother of 3 and a photographer, so I am always moving.

I was sleeved 12/27/12. I am 5'2" and my starting weight was 232. BMI was 42. I am now at 137. Goal is 130. I do have some loose skin...mostly my belly....but it's not horrible.

I'm 5'3.75" with a starting BMI of ~41 - HW 246 (Jan 2013), SW 234.6 (June 18), CW 227.2 - and wondered if your early weeks were as slow as mine. Still extremely happy with surgery.

My first few weeks were a little slow as far as weight loss....then it started falling off. I would start exercising now....and pick it up again when you are able following surgery.

I had a BMI of 41. 8 months out I have a BMI of 25 and a few lbs to goal. I have lost over 100lbs and very minimal loose skin - mid 20s so age has helped a lot with skin.

Starting BMI 41.8 HW 267 SW 269 CW 208

Sleeved 2/27 work out a little. Consider my self a slow looser. But I love it that I'm loosing.

From a size 22/24 3x women to a 12/14 misses!

40 is fairly high BMI; it's usually the minimum BMI for American docs to be willing to do the surgery. It's not super high, but it's higher than most Mexican docs require.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
