I am just curious how frequently you post surgery people are weighing yourselves?

I don't have a scale ( they are hard to find for someone my size), and I know I can get so frustrated with weighing that it concerns me. Yet after surgery I would like to know how I am doing. At my size weight loss can be hard to physically see. And I feel the need for some reinforcement of accomplishment, yet do not want to be focused only on what the scale says.

I understand about the scales. I bought a Biggest Loser scale last year. It is digital and tells you your BMI at the weight and how much calories you consume based on that weight. It also has a memory in it, so you can set yourself as 1 and hit the memory button before you get on and then view the history. I haven't done that yet, but know it is a feature! I am trying not to weigh too frequently so I don't get aggravated that I'm not losing fast.

I personally weigh in when I go to the gym. Now during the winter months I was going to the gym a minimum of 4 days a week but now I only make it once or twice a week. I will say it is less frustrating to go once a week because I see the progress easier and don't see the fluctuations.

I weigh in once a week, every Friday. I'm 12 weeks post op and can honestly say I don't feel like I have hit a stall yet simply because of weighing once a week. I have a pattern where every 4 weeks I won't lose anything but that definitely a hormonal thing, not a stall. 45 lbs lost and 8 to go before I hit Onderland!

Oh and I take my measurements once every 4 weeks. That helps a lot....7 niches off my waist, 3 inches off my thigh and 6 inches off my hips!

I have a scale with a 1000lb capacity.

Do yourself a favor after surgery and weigh yourself once per week. Pick a day that works for you and weigh only on that day. If you start weighing yourself like certain psychos around here (yes myself included) you're just setting yourself up for heartbreak.

Also, start measuring yourself - this will help for those times the scale isn't moving.

The scale isn't the only way to measure progress.

One way: Take your measurements each month.

Another way: Use smaller sized clothing as a way to measure progress. I go into my closet pull out the next smaller size to see if I can fit them. It is a fun experiment.

Both options are great when you are at a stall because you tend to start loosing inches rather than the scale moving.
