Teachers Supporting Sleeved Teachers

Recommended Posts

I am a Texas teacher. I have been teaching K but this year I am moving to 1st grade. Excited for a change! I was sleeved on June 18th and have lost 27 pounds with pre-op diet. My goal is to get back into some clothes that are hanging in my closet and not have to buy clothes to go back to school this year. I need to lose about 10 more pounds. This stinking stall is not making me hopeful though. I had a 2 day workshop a week after surgery and I was still in so much pain. I was determined that I was not going to take pain meds while at school but on the 1st day at lunch I was in so much pain I asked my principal if it was ok to take them and she said, I was not in charge of kids so it was fine. She has also had this surgery so was completely understanding. Excited about hearing school success stories and weight los success stories! Thanks for starting this topic!

Hi! I'm a teacher in Texas. My job is very interesting!! Previously I taught 3rd grade math and science but now at a new school district. So, I teach 6-8 students social studies. All of these students have failed a grade in the past. I also teach a high school online program. This program is for students who are behind on credits and need to graduate. Then, I have DAEP!! This is your behavioral program for those who have been through other programs and this is their last resort for discipline within the district. Needless to say, everyday I see something new! It keeps me on my toes for sure!!!

I have survived 4 days of my 4 week liquid diet and it gets easier each day! My biggest concern is that my surgery date is one week before school starts. I will have my room ready and will have weeks worth of lessons completed' date=' but I am concerned that I may not feel ready. I teach Special Education and fear missing the first few days. I teach HS at a career center so ALL of the students are new to the school and they are always nervous. Did anyone go back to school after a week?[/quote']

I also teach HS sped. My surgery is the 2nd. Very worried about my students. I was planning on going back a week late.

Which is 3 weeks post op.

I had surgery on a Wednesday and could have easily gone back on a Monday. After day 5 you are fine if you are like me.

Wow! I know we have talked in other forums, but never realized you are a teacher too, and DAEP? Wow!

Hello to everyone else! I'm new to the forum. I was sleeved July 8 and am a teacher in the Dallas area in tx. (arlington, for those familiar with the area) I am going into my 12th year as an educator and teach 5th and 6th grade science. Nice to meet everyone!

@ccaramel27. I teach high school business and marketing. Was sleeved in December 2012 and was out Thursday, Friday and Monday. Went back on Tuesday to finish the semester. Don't go back that soon. Take at least a full week off. You don't even have food figured out in less than a week.

I'm a Texas teacher, too.

I'm doing wonderful! Will be 6 weeks on Wednesday. Down 41 lbs, 162!!! My dad is 56 and was so negative to me about the surgery. Now, he is scheduled for August 27th!! He changed his mind real quick when he saw how great I was doing. Just remember what drove you to want the surgery to begin with. Pray about it and do what your heart tells you! Good luck

Being nervous is normal. Remember your goals and why you thought about this to begin with!! It has been the greatest thing I have done for me. I am 39 years old I'm down 90 pounds and barely 2 months post op. My kids are so happy and my

Wife is as well!! I feel

Great mobile injury free and I am myself again!! When you're two months post op you'll laugh at this moment and how you wanted to not do it!! Good luck and god bless you'll do great!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
