ambervsg2013 23 Posted July 7, 2013 Hi all! I would love to set up a support group for other teachers. I'm a fifth grade teacher in Northern KY. I am still on the pre-op side, so going into surgery it would be nice to have other people to really talk to. My sleeve surgery date is August 1. I'm nervous as can be!!! 4 ahurtt, Cheer Mama, 1htqbn and 1 other reacted to this

Tim H. 168 Posted July 7, 2013 I'm also a teacher. I spent 10 years at the high school level teaching English, last year as a 1st-4th grade librarian, and this year I'll be moving to our 7th and 8th grade building as a librarian. I was sleeved this year on the Monday of my spring break (March 18th.) I took two additional weeks off, although I think one off would have been plenty. 1 Cheer Mama reacted to this

bobheist 85 Posted July 7, 2013 I'm a teacher and I'm in. I had mine done just before winter break and agree that one week off would've been fine (was nice to have two off though).
kjordan83 65 Posted July 7, 2013 I'm a teacher in Eastland, Texas! I spent 7 years in Kindergarten and made the switch to High School Spanish last year! I absolutely love the "big kids!" I was sleeved 6 days ago on 7/1. I'm so glad I have more summer to recover because there is NO WAY that I could go back to work after a week!!! I'm still dependent on pain meds and my hubby! It's been a rough week. I CAN'T WAIT to start dropping the weight... I think my students will be just as excited as I am! I'm also the Cheer Coach and I will feel a lot more "worthy" of that title when I am more fit!
Wags 549 Posted July 7, 2013 I am a teacher too! I teach 3 & 4 year old children with special needs. I love my Pre-K students!! I was sleeved on 5/31 and have lost 30 pounds so far. I was sleeved in Cancun, Mexico. It's great to have a teacher's group. Thanks for starting it! 1 Cassicakes01 reacted to this

ambervsg2013 23 Posted July 7, 2013 Now I'm gonna start.... Lol! I'm dreading this pre-op liquid diet because I've been reading such negative comments. Have any of you experienced this? Is it really that bad??

Wags 549 Posted July 7, 2013 Now I'm gonna start.... Lol! I'm dreading this pre-op liquid diet because I've been reading such negative comments. Have any of you experienced this? Is it really that bad?? I had a 12 day liquid Pre-op. The first couple days were rough, but I took Tylenol to get through the headaches. Those were due to withdrawal from sugar, caffeine, etc. After the first couple days it wasn't too bad. I lost 10 pounds. The preop is to shrink your liver so the surgeon has better access during surgery. It's not necessarily to lose weight, but I was glad I did because I gained 10 pounds from the IV fluids during my hospital stay. I was very grateful to have gone through the sugar and caffeine withdrawals preop because it would have been awful to go through that in addition to the surgery recovery at the same time! 1 nmck reacted to this
