ccaramel27 56 Posted July 13, 2013 I needed two weeks to get back in sync. I got mine on the last day. It was bumped up ! Lucky you! It looks like January for me because of my insurance and the prereqs. I don't know how I'm going to take the time of in January. I know it's going to affect the classroom. I also don't want to wait or not be at work 100%, as you know it's not a desk job. We have to be up and about and I don't want to hurt myself.
snochick2005 172 Posted July 14, 2013 I have told no one and plan to keep it that way. I am a very private person and just feel more comfortable this way. I am of the opinion that you have to decide for yourself what to do. Once you tell' date=' you can't take it back.[/quote'] I also don't plan on telling anyone I work with. I'm a special Ed teacher and everyone in my department is a size 2 or smaller! They were talking about wls earlier this year because we know someone else having it and they did not have nice things to say... I want to focus on myself now. If I feel I can educate them later about our actual struggles I might tell them, but I'm not sure it's possible. One of them gained 4 pounds since her wedding and she's been working so hard to get rid of it. Where the 4 pounds are is anyone's best guess because she's a freaking twig! Anyways, everyone has their own opinions on sharing and privacy. Also only you know your colleagues. If you think they'd be supportive, great! If not, focus on you. snochick2005 172 Posted July 14, 2013 Are you all going to tell everyone you work with?? I'm so worried about negative comments getting to me... Thoughts?? Opps! I wanted my previous post to be an additional response to this post. Sorry! Still new to these boards...

Melixxa 125 Posted July 14, 2013 I'm a Grade 4/5 teacher in BC, Canada. I had my surgery the first week of summer holidays, so I'm enjoying a nice long rest before I go back to work. I have Lupus and my energy has been really low, which, as you know, is really not cool for a teacher to admit. I'm so hoping that weight loss will help with my fatigue. I'm nervous about my colleagues' reactions to my weight loss--they're an athletic, healthy-living bunch and they often comment on what I eat, etc. They're not unkind, but really food-conscious and watchful. I was the only overweight staff member at our school. As fate would have it, I have been transferred to a a tiny school a half hour drive from my home and I won't see many of my colleagues for several months now. My only colleague there will be a male friend from university who couldn't care less what size I am. I will enjoy the break from the staff room and all the pizza days, birthday cakes and pot luck luncheons. 1 nmck reacted to this

Satchel 42 Posted July 14, 2013 I'm a high school special education teacher in Michigan. I had my surgery in January, however, had a few issues with Protein and dehydration. Was out from school until Easter. Everyone was very supportive of me when I returned to work and they could not believe how different I looked. I had a few teachers tell me they were considering the same procedure.
nmck 68 Posted July 14, 2013 I've been a 5th grade teacher in PA for 12 years, but am voluntarily making the switch to 4th grade this year! I'm getting sleeved this coming Friday July 19, so I will be having a lot of changes in the coming months. I told a couple of colleagues and my principal as I was going through my pre-op program, and all were supportive. They were close friends after the time I've worked there! I haven't mentioned to anyone else but I likely will eventually. My co-workers are also a very health conscious bunch, but since we're a small staff, they're all very aware of how hard I've worked on my weight in the past10-11 years. I only kept it to myself ahead of time to avoid the morbid horror stories that are likely to come!
nmck 68 Posted July 14, 2013 Now I'm gonna start.... Lol! I'm dreading this pre-op liquid diet because I've been reading such negative comments. Have any of you experienced this? Is it really that bad?? Hey! I suffered the first couple of days on the pre-op diet but turned a corner on day 4. Today is day 5 and I feel fine...not even hungry. So don't worry!! Tjm1002 9 Posted July 18, 2013 I was sleeved yesterday! And I'm doing really good. I was so nervous, but it is not as bad as I expected. Once I got over the gas pains I don't feel any pain at all. It is more like just soreness. 5 Caaattt, AmericanWoman, Satchel and 2 others reacted to this

But other then that and my left side incision being very sore yet, I feel pretty good considering the surgery we went through! How are you tolerating liquids? Are you able to get 64oz in yet?
