I really don't like the Quest bars but love the Pure Protein bars. I have one every night for a snack. If I don't I wake up hungery in the middle of the night.

The texture was off putting to me me! Like rubbery. I say just make spagetti squash and know you are eating a low cal veggie that is all natural.

Interesting answers! I know myself and think these items can be a slippery slope adding calories to my day. I will take them when I travel internationally so I can skip restaurant Breakfast and lunch and limit meals out to dinner.< /p>

I don't count carbs, so if I can fit in a yummy Protein Bar and still be under my calorie goal for the day, I don't feel guilty about doing it. I understand why others might want to avoid them. But my doctor didn't put any restrictions on them. Ultimately you need to find what works for you. I had a huge sweet tooth before surgery, so Protein Bars help me satisfy that craving without turning to a much worse choice.

Foe...definitely foe! Protein bars = crack :D

Reigo

i used to think, "if i'm gonn eat too much of something - a Protein Bar sounds ok'

full of Protein right???

true, its full of protein, and if i could have one on a certain day and stop, it would be ok

but i can't stop at just one!!!!

i do get hooked

i'm still working on it

at my request 6'2 DH puts bars way up high where i can't reach them, then he'll give me one when i ask

the other mid-day, i actually pulled a chair to the pantry and stood up on a chair to get the bar!!!!!

NSV - i was always afraid to get up on a chair - if i fell with allllll this weight

unfortunately this is not an NSV i want to repeat

as OP have said - protein bars are like candy/crack

do they have a special protein bar rehab place??

maybe they should - lots of us would join and get to meet other addicts

I don't subtract the carbs from Fiber...

( I suck at math) :P

I don't subtract them either. In tracking my carb intake, they still count in my book. I haven't had much luck in finding Protein bars that are a good balance so I skip them unless I absolutely need something quick and easy on the run. Even then, I have to plan ahead so I still keep within my goals for carbs, Protein, and calories for the day.

Nut told us pure Protein, south Beach had enough protein in them. Also proti-diet. Always have one in my purse with me. I only count protein, sugar per serving, and fat. Per doc and nut. Also Greek yogurt... More sugar but also more protein. 9 mo out and down 80 # since pre surgery checkup 3 weeks before. Checkup on tues. 66 years old! Yah! Hoo! 15 pounds from goal.

The Premier Protein bars from SAMs are working for me. They have 30g of Protein and I can't remember the number of carbs but I don't think it was very high. These are so thick and so filing i usually can't finish a whole bar in one sitting. I'll split it in half and eat it as two different Snacks during the day.

My dr said Protein bars should have at least 10 grams protein and under 230 calories. Also said to ignore other things on the label. I like EAS and Center for Medical Weight Loss bars.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
