Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I'm interested in staying in contact with alot of my fellow sleevers. I was wondering if any of you folks use google+ and/or youtube. I'd be interested in being friends and staying up to date with your journey.

I will gladly follow you. I am just getting started and the link to my most recent post is

I don't even know how to put a general link to all videos like you did. I think I'm too old to be tech savvy.

I agree. I love the videos. I have been watching them for months as I go through this. They are very inspiring and I've gained a lot of info. They are fun to watch as the weight comes off. I haven't gotten to that stage yet:) Soon.

I wish i knew how to do these video blogs. I will watch yours. Amazing world we live in to be able to connect with people going through the same thing. I have not told anybody outside my immediate family about what I have been through. Big secret to all my coworkers/ and friends and other family. So this feels so good to feel connected to other people. I probably would not do a video because I don't want people to recognize me. That is why I don't have a profile pic.

Melissa, I understand that feeling. I have certain people I do NOT want to know. My ex husband being the main one:). I just figure the likelihood of them finding me is low.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
