Hey guys! I'm about to be 6 months post op and I'm struggling to eat more than 2 spoonfuls per meal :/ what does your diet consist of? How much do you consume?

Wow! That sounds pretty restricted!

I am 10 weeks out and can eat 2/3 oz of Protein (chicken or similar), bit of Tomato and a couple of tablespoons of mash at a sitting. I try to eat three meals a day, with a couple of Snacks (banana, cracker with cheese).

But that's not always the case every day. Yesterday, I couldn't eat my whole portion of porridge, today I could. Can't eat rice, Pasta, salad, red meat but can eat small portions of chicken, egg, fish and minced beef, cooked veggies, Soups etc. It means I can go out with friends for meals and although I eat like a bird compared to them, I feel my portions are getting better.

Everyone's different but if you are asking, do you feel you should be eating more and can't? How's your weight loss? Can you drink your guilds easily?

I still can't eat beef or pork and I am almost 9 months out....Other then that I eat what ever I want.......in a very small amount though of course....I have had pizza and a hamburger ( which took me 3 days to eat after I dissected it )....I can now eat rice and pasta...But I find that mornings are hard and I eat light.......The last few days my stomach has been a little funky...So I have been easy on it ( very little spices) I eat a cup of food 3 times a day and 1 snack at night either fruit or nuts 1/4 cup.....

That does seem like a small amount but we are all different.

I can eat 1/2 cup of soft foods like cottage cheese, refried Beans or 6 oz yogurt, 2 low fat 50 ca each pieces of string cheese, tuna in the pouch, 2 oz of Boars Head (deli) chicken, 2 oz of fish or 1 egg as 1 meal. Just one not all of them at once:)

So alot more than 2 spoonfuls. Not cleared for beef, pork, or nuts yet.

7 weeks out. down 40 lbs.

I've lost 73 lbs. I drink my fluids easily. Solids are hard though! I need to take the tiniest bite in order to swallow it. Does that sound normal? I also need to wait 2 to 3 minutes before taking my second tiny bite? Normal? Lol

Wow congrats on your weight loss! Mine has been rather slow but consistent. I just bought cottage cheese and I'm going to eat that tonight for dinner along with some crackers. Yum!

I do eat small pieces of food and chew it to oblivion as per nutritionist's instruction - he said chew it, chew it again and when u think u can't chew it any more, chew it one more time. So I suppose food is going down almost as liquid.

I eat at a slow but steady pace. I will pause occasionally and when I eat, I try not to be doing anything to distract me. Otherwise that's when I eat too fast or without chewing enough with painful consequences!

Your weight loss is great and u can drink. Wish I has some magic solution to help...

Thank you so much for your input! You've actually put me at ease. I thought I was the only one that has to eat in small pieces. How far along are you?

Glad to have been of some help - and now you know you aren't the only one eating small pieces!

I am 10 weeks out and I was a bit embarrassed about it to begin with when eating in front of other people. But it's what works best for me... And it does seem to help me eat a reasonable amount of food.

Very happy to have been sleeved, good to talk someone who's done well over a longer period :-)

I would check with your doctor. At 6 months I could eat about 2 ounces of chicken or lunch meat or cheese and maybe two bites of a veggie for a meal. I was satisfied with one cheese stick as a snack or 1/4 cup roasted edamame.

To me, and it is just my opinion, I think you should be able to tolerate solids better. I would definitely talk to your doctor. They should be helping you progress on your intake as the months go by.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
