mendymayhem 52 Posted July 6, 2013 I'm going tomarrow to see family for the first time since my surgery. It has been three years since we have seen each other. I gained quite a bit more weight between our last visit and my surgery. I'm afraid my progress won't be so noticeable to them, and that it will bother me. I know how far I've come...weight, energy, improved blood sugar..... But I'm afraid that I will get discouraged if they don't realize just how far I've come. They know I've had the surgery, what if they have expectations I won't meet? I wish I had a button to switch off worrying about what other people think. Arrrrgh! Morganne 241 Posted July 6, 2013 I hear you! My husbands family is in Ohio and we see them once a year. We are going in August and I'm nervous. I didn't want any of them to know but my husband slipped to his mom and told her. I begged her not to tell anyone. They can be so judgmental. On a different note, this surgery is for you and only you. You did this for your health. You are doing wonderful and remember that. People are always going to judge and say hateful things. I personally think you will be surprised and get positive feedback. Keep us posted!!! 2 Faith41 and mendymayhem reacted to this
Kami63 215 Posted July 6, 2013 Girl, we can't always know how family will react. Good or bad, just know that you have worked your butt off to get here and in a few more months you can wipe te skepticism off their faces if they are not happy with your progress right now. Try not to worry and just have a good time with your family. 1 Morganne reacted to this
