Anyone been sleeved or going to be sleeved by Dr Curry?

I met Dr Curry at his seminar and then again at my initial appointment to get things rolling. I thought I was going to do the band with him. He told me I could do that or the sleeve. I didn't t feel like I was anything more to him than just another pay day. He left me feeling cold. That was about a year ago. I am now scheduled for my sleeve surgery on July 31 with Dr Brad Watkins. He is so different from Dr Curry. I felt like he cared about me as a person and a patient. If you haven't gone to Dr Watkins seminar or for that matter any other seminar, you should. There is a difference. Good luck with whichever doctor you choose.

Dr. Watkins is amazing !! I was banded there in 07 and there is no one else I would ever trust to do my revision except for him.

I realize I'm posting this late....but just want to add that I'm on board for an upcoming surgery with dr. Brad Watkins and I truly agree that there is something different; genuine, if you will, about him vs. other doctors. Met with dr. Curry, Northup & Watkins for seminars. Just extremely happy and satisfied with my choice to go with Watkins. Set for a gastric sleeve in 10 days...triumphing through the bland and ever-boring 2-wk liquid pre-op. Can't wait to begin the next chapter of my life. I've been overweight for 7 years. Best of luck out there to all newbies like me, and please keep us posted to those of you who've done amazing & have already joined the loser's bench. ;)

Dr Watkins did my surgery on July 31, 2013. My insurance required 3 months of a supervised diet. Pre-surgery diet was a 2 week liquid diet. Total calories each day was 800 calories. During this time, you could have a salad. However, the calories from this had to be included in your daily calorie total. Post surgery diet was 1 month of all Liquid Protein, 1 month of puréed food, and 1 month of soft food. The 4th month post surgery you finally get to have "real" food. Dr. Watkins fixed my hiatal hernia so I don't need to take any antacids. The all liquid diet tough but so worth it. Good luck in your journey.

I'm back to days from surgery. Things are a little worse than I would have expected. Everytime i drink liquids it settles in my sleeve and it hurts. I know I just had surgery so some of this is probably still fresh ones, but I hope the pain subsides cause I can't stand it. They only gave me liquid ibuprofen which is nasty, because I get sick with vicodin, percocet or any other high-strength codeine painkiller. It's all hopefully temporary. I haven't weighed myself but I'd lost 18 lbs on the 2-week pre-op diet. I'm still very happy I had the surgery...no buyer's remorse here. Anyone else experience pain in their sleeve after drinking liquids?

Hello Lynn2win, hope all is well. Things for me are night and day from my last post. I've dropped 8 lbs since surgery last week. No more pain. It was only in the very beginning after the surgery. The staff at UC were awesome and kept me pain-free until my discharge the next day. I met with Dr. Angela Fitch. No you won't see Dr. Watkins yet. At least I didn't. Prepare to get an EKG. I wasn't sure what Dr. Fitch's role was. Seemed a little interrogating...but maybe that's her job?? To make sure we're ready? ?? Well I'll be praying for you to have a smooth journey ahead. I saw Dr. Fitch in Oct, Dr. Watkins in Nov, and by Dec 15th, my insurance approved me and lastly got my surgery date in Jan. Should be moving pretty quickly for you now!! Excited for you.

Dr. Fitch can be an amazing asset to your journey!! She is there to make sure there isn't any medical reasons that you're not losing weight. She also can help you set a reasonable goal and track your progress in terms of body fat and not just lbs on the scale. They work from a team approach, just look at it like the more people you have in your corner and there to help you the better off you will be :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
