Pain from flabby skin over hips/thighs

Recommended Posts

I searched but didn't find any previous posts so here goes. Maybe I'm just odd.

I had surgery 6 1/2 months ago. I'm about 20 lbs from my goal. I have always been pear shaped and now I have extra skin over my hips and thighs in the saddle bag area. Not a surprise.

The shock is that when I sit and twist a certain way, it must fold the extra skin on itself and pinch. It is extremely painful in almost a cry out loud sort of way. It has been going on for a couple of weeks.

Has anyone else experienced this? I wasn't sure how I felt about plastic surgery but I can't fear sitting down for the rest of my life either.

Oooooh....that sounds really uncomfortable. My sypmathies. :(

I can't relate, mostly because I have only lost eight pounds so far! LOL But I think you could make a damn good case for insurance-covered plastic surgery.

In the meantime, wear Spanx! I have been experiencing similar pain from what I'm guessing is the skin pulling down on my belly. I wear the Spanx for support more than for looks & it REALLY helps!

If you go to target, the maker of spanks carries a line called Assets. They are cheaper but work just as well. There is a full line of brief, shapers, shaper tops etc, I swear by their panty hose. Holds everything in nicely.

Thanks. I will have to give it a try. It is certainly a learning curve and great to have people you can ask for advise.

I've pretty much come full circle to the girdles my grandma used to wear!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
