floating in a swimming pool?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone had a problem with "floating" laying out on a raft float after surgery. I got sleeved on Monday, June 24th. So, I am out 11 days. I was thinking of putting on waterproof band aids and just laying on the float, no soaking. Any suggestions, or should I wait 4 weeks? Thanks in advance!

Hehehe. Though you were asking if we can float in a swimming pool!!

I was going to say,

"ummm... Yes we can float we're fat" :P

That's a tough one because I'm not sure you can really manage it with out getting it wet and it's definitely to soon for soaking in a pool...

I was sleeved the 19th and I've already been swimming several times and kitesurfing once. Obviously, follow doctors orders yadda yadda but that's what I've done and all is well. If it makes a difference, I was on antibiotics for ten days post surgery and my incisions were mostly healed up.

Dr. told me to wait four weeks. Last thing you would want to do is get your incisions infected.

"ummm... Yes we can float we're fat" LMAO! Too funny.

If this makes you feel better, I did not have to wait 4 weeks. My doctor said just as soon as my wounds were healed over. I think at my 3 week appt I had him take a look and he said they were fine. Just in my opinion, a pool is safer that a lake or even a hot bathtub. But, I may not know what in the heck I am talking about!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
