5th day out of surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Sleeved on Tuesday 2nd July, so it's my 5th day post op.

I can honestly say I feel ok...surprisingly!

I think after readying up on the forums so much, and after the pain I underwent with the removal of the band.....I just expected to be in a lot of pain, BUT.....it's not as bad as I expected.

I haven't taken any pain meds since Thursday night.

The only thing that is uncomfortable is my chest/lungs. I do feel some tightness, but I'm trying to walk as much as I can and doing my breathing exercises whenever I remember.

I must say, i hated the 'leak' and 'swallow' test the following morning after my op......OMG, YUKKKKKKK! I don't know how they expect you to drink 2 glasses of .... &@$! when you can only really drink 50 ml an hour! And... Lying down flat to have the CT Scan was really REALLY hard and horrible. It's was so hard to lie down flat while they are taking images of your chest, it felt like someone had punched me in the tummy, and I just couldn't catch my breath. Out of this whole experience, this was the worst for me.

I'm 2 kilos down, and am drinking my fluids fine.

Am really looking forward to going home today and getting my life back!

Good luck to you all

; )

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
