Hi,

I am just wondering if there are many Sleevers here that live nearby the Saint Louis, MO area and if anyone can recommend a good support group that meets regularly in this general area?

Best of Luck to everyone,

Jen

Hi! I am in the STL area. There is a support group that meets monthly at SSM DePaul. When I return home I will forward you the exact week/day of the month!

Thank you. That would not be far for me at all.

Hi - I'm from St Peters. Just got my surgery date yesterday - Sept 4. Began the liquid diet today. Going through Dr Morales at DePaul. They kept telling me about the support group that meets the third Wednesday of every month at 5:30. Unfortunately, I kept forgetting so I've not been to one yet. Good luck and perhaps we'll see each other at one of the meetings.

I am originally from St. Louis and had 2 of my children at DePaul. I have heard that Wash U also has a good bariatric program. I love living in Florida but I do miss St. Louis. I used to live in Florissant.

I grew up in Florissant and my dad still lives there. My time there was from early 70s to 1990. I am jealous,. I love visiting Florida and always wish I could up and move there too. :)

I lived there until I was 42 and we had the opportunity to change our lives and ran with it. My parents moved down here and my sister already did so we took the chance and did it. We have now been here for 11 years and it was the best thing we ever did! Maybe sometime in your life you can do the same! Best of luck with your sleeve!! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
