momo23 21 Posted July 5, 2013 I'm 9 days post op and having a sharp pain in the center of my back. I also have a little shoulder pain but I assume that is from gas. Could this be a leak? The sharp pain in my back comes and goes.
Corky6984 134 Posted July 5, 2013 Do you still have your gallbladder? Sent from my iPhone using VST
Corky6984 134 Posted July 5, 2013 It could be the gas, but could also be gallbladder. I had sharp pains in my back when I had my gallbladder and at that tine, I thought it was just a gas bubble. Felt like it, but it wasn't. Try some gas-x or something similar to see if it goes away. If it persists, contact your dr. Gallbladder problems is one of the side effects of this surgery. I have seen some people on here say they weren't informed of that, which surprises me because my surgeon did address it with me, but since I had mine out in Dec, I didn't have to worry about that. I'm hoping for your sake it is just gas and will work its way out and the pain will go away! momo23 21 Posted July 5, 2013 I had my surgery done in Mexico so I would have to go to the ER and I've already been there once for dehydration and they said my blood levels were normal other than signs of dehydration. I texted my surgeons assistant/ NUT and she told me back pains aren't normal but since I'm having the shoulder pain I assumed they were both gas but she told me to go to the ER immediately but I don't know if she is just saying that as a precaution. Corky6984 134 Posted July 5, 2013 I say try gas-x to see if it will go away. If not, definitely go to ER to make sure it isn'f anything else. Better safe than sorry! Sent from my iPhone using VST
Arts137 1,811 Posted July 5, 2013 A "leak" would be marked by unrelenting discomfort/pain, followed by a fever!
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted July 5, 2013 You could go see your PCP as a precaution. I had my gallbladder removed after my sleeve and very happy I did.....do you have insurance? Also walk as much as possible because walking will dislodge the gas and make you feel better.... 1 Corky6984 reacted to this
momo23 21 Posted July 5, 2013 Yes I have tricare. Will they cover the leak test?
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted July 5, 2013 If it's a leak, they have to do something. They may do a CT and run some iv dye through you. It is worth a try. Tell them you are in a lot of pain and they will also help determine if it is your gallbladder........Best bet is to go back to the ER or urgent care. momo23 21 Posted July 5, 2013 It's not extreme pain. I'm not crying. But it is definitely enough pain to make me notice it. I just don't want to go and nothing be wrong and feel stupid. But I also don't want to sit here and worry so much.
Corky6984 134 Posted July 5, 2013 I felt the same when I went to the ER for my gallbladder. I was in some bad pain and was like, "If this is a gas bubble, they are gonna laugh at me." Ended up being tiny gallstones. Got surgery scheduled and then 5 days before surgery one of the stones decided to go explore and pancreatitis set in and had to wait until that went away before they could take gallbladder out. I would go just to be on the safe side because all of that was not fun AT ALL! Sent from my iPhone using VST
