k8ee 131 Posted July 5, 2013 So I get my results back from my bloods for diabetes and Vitamins.< /p> IM NOT HAPPY... Seriously I'm two months out and my HBA1C levels are EXACTLY the same as pre op. I now have a severe Vitamin D deficiency which requires a 50,000 unit tablet to boost it up and my fasting sugar levels are 10.6! What the hell is going on??? I've lost 12kg so far so I'm happy with that and now i've hit another stall. I'm so annoyed. When will things get better?
Arts137 1,811 Posted July 5, 2013 Sorry about this pothole. Despite it you are doing the right things to address it, and with luck all (especially the diabetes issues) will resolve. Hang in there!!! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

mokee 588 Posted July 5, 2013 Vit D, we'll let me tell you. Most everyone in the northern hemisphere is so called low on vit D. I have been put on megadoses to get it up and then it goes back down. I also love the sun and am in it a lot without sunscreen and still low. They are trying to prove something. This vit D thing just happened a few yrs back. All my drs and my husbands started checking it and the same answer as I said above. Now the same drs said all patients are low and don't worry about it. What have others heard about this? cindymg 629 Posted July 5, 2013 About Vitamin D: several years ago I started a new job but was really tired and unable to concentrate (not a good thing when trying to learn new job info). Endocrinologist tested me for low Thyroid and Vit D. Thyroid fine, but Vit D really low. Put me on 5,000 IU of Vit D every day. Wow! What a difference! Energy, concentration greatly improved. Now I call Vit D "my little capsule of sunshine." About A1C: that's so odd that it hasn't moved. Mine was 10.7 before my surgery 8 weeks ago. Will have it tested next month. My PCP is expecting good things. Honestly, I think she is more excited that I had the surgery than I am!
Ailly 32 Posted July 5, 2013 Your body is still adjusting and needs time to heal. My Vitamin and sugar levels didn't get back to within normal range until I was 6 months post-op. It's difficult to not want or expect immediate results after having a life changing major surgery. But our bodies don't operate on the same time table as our minds and needs time to catch up. Your lab results are not abnormal for someone two months post-op. Hang in there, work hard, take your Vitamins and supplements and stay positive. Give your body some time to recover from the major changes it is going through. It will get better. Keep your chin up. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Kimmy1813 77 Posted July 5, 2013 I'm still pre-op but my Vitamin D level was 11 in February, so I've been on 50,000 IU, once a week, since then. Hopefully, your numbers get better in another couple of months.
k8ee 131 Posted July 6, 2013 I would have thought that things would improve sooner but obviously not. Thanks everyone for your support.
