JIllette 57 Posted July 4, 2013 I am finding now I am on the reduction diet feelings of weakness and lightheadedness on and off. I keep testing my blood sugars and find I am in normal range. I am finding the diabetes a challenge had to stray off diet 3x only to treat a low blood sugar but got right back on board.
fp9107 121 Posted July 4, 2013 I had the same feelings, but I think my symptoms were due to the drastic reduction in calories. Keep testing and keep in touch with your PCP let them know if this continues.
cindymg 629 Posted July 4, 2013 My diabetes was SO out of control before the pre-op diet (I had been on the "dead man walking diet" -- you know the every meal is my last meal syndrome) that the reduction in calories and blood sugar levels hit me like a freight train! I was so exhausted that my PCP and I finally decided that I was just getting used to normal blood sugars after so many months (years?) of high sugars. Good news is that I am down to 1/4 of my diabetes meds and hope to eliminate that soon. About 3 weeks after the surgery, my energy started to return and now I feel good (8 weeks since surgery). Down 30 lbs, walking 2 miles 4-5 times a week and normal blood sugars.
JIllette 57 Posted July 5, 2013 Cyndi same here my sugars were up and down for the past year like I got tired of it. My job is very stressful and I have a young teen with special needs going through a hard time I kept putting myself last Until Now. Then I did you what did I went wild during the process knowing one reduction starts no going back. I am ready to move forward now. Thank you both of you. I was also thinking the symptoms are my body adjusting.
JIllette 57 Posted July 8, 2013 I am nervous I have had 5 low blood sugars during my reduction diet that forced me to eat something. I am praying it does not affect the outcome. The positive side my insulin levels keep lowering and I am down 10 lbs. My big day is Thursday.
