I was shopping a few weeks ago. I picked up a dress by the size on the hanger (large) and I was looking at it thinking man- that's so tiny! That thing isn't going to fit! Well- sure enough I got it back, took it off the hanger, put it on. It fit and it for well. Took it off went to look for the price tag- What I thought was a tiny large- was actually a size small!!!!!! SMALL! At that point- I didn't care what it cost- it was going to hang in my closet even if I never wore it!

Hey Pat, UK, It wud be good as they've said to speak to a therapist about it bc it is a real issue w obese people after wls. It's like an anorexic who sees themselves as being obese when its soooo obvious to everyone else that they are usually just skin nd bones. They too have to seek out therapy bc it is a mind thing majority of the time. It cant hurt to chat w som1. I'm presleeve so, guess I'll c what happens soon enuff. Actually, I c myself as disgustingly fat now, but when I have told people of my weight, they say, "no way u weigh that much, you carry it well!", I'm 5'3 nd 235, how can that be carried well:/ newhoo, gla, us:))

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
