kailie 238 Posted July 4, 2013 After 5 days of my pre op diet, hundreds of dollars later I get a phone call yesterday saying that I hadn't reached my deductible for insurance and I would have to pay $2,400 before surgery. Well I don't have that much and neither does anyone else. My parents had said they would cover the cost but weren't expecting it to be that much and didn't have that much saved... So Friday morning I get to call and cancel my July 15th surgery.... I am utterly heartbroken!!

I was only five days into it also!!! I wanted to fo binge soo bad when i got the news!!! I ended up using my AFLAC insurance (wellness checks I had not sent in paperwork since2005. I filed and then ended up getting $1150 !!!) I needed $1050 more. A total of $2200!!! No one was able to float me a loan and I didn't have it either. With the grace of God, I prayed and spoke to my pastors wife and she had given me a name of a place who did loans but the interest is high. I thought why not try? I went and applied and got the money the same day. BTW, I have awful credit! I thought I was going to pass out!!! I felt so blessed and relieved. I don't kniw if something like this is an option, but don't give up yet! I will pray for you & I really hope this all falls in place for you! {{{Hugs}}}} 9 MaryW1965, Kristina J., Ms.AntiBand and 6 others reacted to this

newat52 1,613 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm so sorry. Don't give up! Look at all your options. See if they will take payments. While I am not a fan of payments and debt, I would do it in a minute knowing how much healthier I am at 4 months out. Keep looking for a way. Good luck! 1 SheWins1 reacted to this

amytug 996 Posted July 4, 2013 Is a loan an option? It's a small one if its just 2,500. Or maybe apply for a cc that has 0% interest. 2 Ms skinniness and Googler reacted to this

makemyownluck 785 Posted July 4, 2013 Have you talked to your insurance carrier? Most insurance plans say if you are using an in-network provider that they can't ask for money up front. Also, you should see if you have any pending claims out there that might go to your deductible! Don't give up so easily - there HAS to be a solution! How much can your parents loan you? If they can come up with half, the hospital might be wiling to let you do payments for the rest... but I still think you should look into whether or not they are "allowed" to ask for money up front - in most cases, they aren't!! Good luck! Stay strong! Save the money and STAY ON COURSE for surgery. it could be a blessing - the more you lose pre-op, the more you practice the lifestyle changes pre-op, the more successful you will be post op. 2 Ms skinniness and ProudGrammy reacted to this
NoneYa 380 Posted July 4, 2013 More surgeons accept Carecredit. Its interest free if you pay with 2 years I think. Don't quote me on the time. You can apply online and get an instant answer. Its a loan for medical only. 3 makemyownluck, penguin13 and SheWins1 reacted to this
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted July 4, 2013 It makes me sad to hear this..... I hope you can find a solution to help get what you need to have the surgery. I was totally thinking about a loan too. In california we have something called care credit where there is no interest for the first 6 months. Heck I'd go for the high interest loan if I had to. This is so worth it. Keep trying to gather the co pay and please talk with the hospital about a payment plan. Don't give up....Keep trying.... 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
bon1984 4 Posted July 4, 2013 Please don't give up hope! I didn't have the money either, but I have managed to find the money. I am stealing from Peter to pay Paul. But it is gonna take awhile to pay it back. I am also borrowing against my 401K, which I is a no no, but heck if I ain't around to enjoy it what good is it. I hope you don't give up! Just put it in your mind it's just not gonna happen right now, make a plan to save a few bucks every month. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

nmck 68 Posted July 4, 2013 I have a friend who had to use carecredit for something also and was going to suggest looking into that. I hope and pray it works out for you! payments on a $2400 loan wouldn't be too bad! Maybe youcould pay it down or off with a tax return next year?
