Slower Loser and happy....Question: what's your Typical Day?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to know what your typical eating day looks like. I am looking for new ideas and getting more inspired :) I am a slow loser and am still happy because I know it will come off it just takes time. I think about what my life would be like if I hadn't had the sleeve and I know I would be heavier and unhappy. I am happy for the most part now just want more fun ideas to keep my slow train a runnin'!

First of all....you are doing wonderfully! I had my surgery in Oct 2012 and I am down about 60 lbs. Slowly but very happy! I eat pretty much what I want but in very small portions which is what makes me very happy! I know much of what I do eat the docs say we shouldn't but I feel like I have the life I always wanted. No deprivation and tons of satisfaction because a little bit gets me full. I have about 35 lbs to go and I know I will get there one of these days but even if I don't I am finally at a weight I can live with. When I look in the mirror, I finally see a "normal" sized person looking back at me. :)

When was your surgery? I am 2 months post op.

My eating is pretty much the same every day:

Breakfast:

Protein shake (Premier Protein - Chocolate; 160 cals, 30g Protein, 1g carb)

morning snack:

a cheese stick

OR

some veggie straws (a lower carb solution to potato chips when I'm craving something salty) with hummus

*snack depends on if I'm feeling a lil hungry or if I'm at work vs. at home - much easier to have the cheese stick at work!

Lunch:

greek yogurt. I like Fage - 0% with strawberry or the new Fruyo blended kind with pineapple.

a piece of fruit - I've been hitting up the farmers market, so I have variety. Peaches, berries, cantaloupe, apple...

*If I have an apple for lunch, it's usually with Peanut Butter, so that's all I'll have with the yogurt.

and when the mood strikes, I have sandwiches - I use Flatout Flatbread, half a slice, which is only 45-50cals and 8-9 carbs. I usually have hummus on it with turkey, avocado, spinach.. whatever I have. It's small portions, though, obviously!

Dinner:

This is where I change up my routine. I make homemade Soups, or something with eggs (mini quiche, scrambles, etc), I also like vegetarian options (but I'm not a vegetarian), especially anything by the brand Gardein. Their burgers are AMAZINGLY good - taste like the real thing, with wayyy less fat/calories! :)

and then I'll have another shake at some point in the afternoon/evening to keep my protein intake up.

I think it's important to get your fresh fruits and veggies in - as soon as I was able to include that in my diet, I was much more "regular" with my bathroom business (if ya catch my drift).

Hope that helps! :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
