Hello

I am also in NH but will more than likely have my surgery in Burlington MA. I am going to the seminar next Monday and will let you know how fast it moves along. From reading the posts, I think its different from state to state and insurance companies as to how long you have to wait.

Hello, at the end of my journey I would have lost 120 lbs. I lost 30 lbs post op. I've been banded since June and have lost just over 30 lbs. I'm considered a slow loser at 1 lb per week. Best of luck to you.

Welcome bandonme...I know about waiting. After 18 months, I am excited to say that I will be banded on June the 4th. I have 119 pounds to lose, actually 115 now as I have lost 4 pounds the last month without even trying, go figure...(maybe all the stress and or excitement!) Good luck with your journey.

Peace Out!

Hello Everyone,

I have my EKG, Phsycholgical eval, blood work, and chest x-ray all tomorrow. I am trying to get my insurance approval in a hurry, and frankily I am pretty dissapointed after reading many of the quotes about insurance approval issues. Makes me want to go self-pay. It seems so absurd to pay over $500.00 a month in health insurance premiums to have to go through so much for an approval.

My Dr. is Dr. Benavidez... I don't even get to meet him until all these tests are done...seems sort of strange to also pick a doctor for your surgery that you don't even know if you can get yet... Although I hear he is the leading Dr. in the DFW area...and of course they have their processes to go through...

Has anyone been successful lately in getting their insurance to approve the surgery?

Thanks and blessings

kmefaith

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
