swanlady 7 Posted July 4, 2013 I am 6 days post op. I tried to walk but I'm always breathless and my breaths are shallow. What can I do to improve this sleevers?!!!
tigerbelle 328 Posted July 4, 2013 I think just keep trying to get some walking--whatever you can manage--in each day...don't push yourself at this point...I think it is important just to try to walk--even if just around your house--more each day...be patient...you will start to feel stronger 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted July 5, 2013 Are you doing your breathing exercises they assigned you in the hospital? If not, get back to doing the breathing exercises and take little steps in exercise as mentioned above. I would also call your surgeon's office and let the know that you are struggling. they will have some suggestions that would be helpful to you.

JennyCat 15 Posted July 6, 2013 I think any difficulties in your breathing you should go to the Er bypass the doc office they don't have all the equipment. Not trying to scare you or anything but two times in my life I have experienced shallow breathing after my Caesarian and I had pneumonia and Fluid backed up in the chest cavity... Better be safe then sorry. My dr assured me that it was nothing and to do breathing exercises and I did but it wasn't good enough. I hope it's not the case with you.. Please go get checked out. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
Kami63 215 Posted July 6, 2013 I called them and they said stay hydrated and do breathing exercises as you said. The problem with the breathing ex they make me cough and this is painful! Please do the exercises even if they make you cough and it hurts. I either wore my abdominal binder or put a pillow firmly up against my belly to cough. The coughing is good, it gets the gunk out of your lungs and help prevent pneumonia. I know it hurts but trust me, you don't want pneumonia either. Hang in there...it will get better. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
mitz 221 Posted July 6, 2013 I was sleeved 6-19-13 and I had a hard time catching my breath but do your walking it takes a few weeks to breath better, just short walks taking deep breaths, you will find it will get better. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
TexasRed1978 17 Posted July 6, 2013 When I did the breathing exercises in teh hospital, I kept coughing and the respiratory therapist said "good we want you to cough". So, coughing may be a good thing. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted July 6, 2013 The coughing is clearing your lungs of stuff.....walk, sip, sip, sip, walk and repeat. Challenge yourself to get in more water.....
