Cottage Cheese is King

Recommended Posts

Oh man, y'all are *killing* me. I LOVE cottage cheese and for some cruel reason my surgeon doesn't let me have it for another 6 whole days. Sigh.

I eat my cottage cheese either with Sam's chunky salsa or Costco's Pesto. Pesto is high in fat and calories, but I just use about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon in the cottage cheese. A little pesto goes a long way as far as flavor! The extra 30 or 40 calories I use are so worth it. Sometimes I just crave something savory with lots and lots of flavor!

I hate cottage cheese. Or rather' date=' I used to. Now I de-engineer it. I put it in Protein shakes, or blend it up with sugar free Jello to make yummy Protein pudding, whirl it up with chicken or eggs & a shot of mustard as a chicken or egg salad. I also blend 1 small avocado, cottage cheese and dijon mustard & put it on my Kims Magic Pop for a great snack. Nom nom nom.[/quote']

U made me say, " nom nom nom" out loud. Lol. Yes, its early morning:/

I've always wanted to try it but it looks yucky w the balls in it! My cousin, whose still a bird, use to eat w bacon bits... Looked good but I nvr cud try it. I need to b4 I have surgery I guess. You state it can be eaten as a side dish? Do u guys heat it up or eat it as is but just add ur favs to it? Thx

Cottage cheese is also super easy to make at home. Then you control whats in it.

Google it! I made it in pre-k !

Cottage cheese? Love it. As a kid I used to put a little catsup on it...ok...let's hear it...YUCK!!! Now, my grandmother was from the old country in Serbia. They mixed cottage cheese with noodles. I still do this and add a little black pepper. My kids ate in when they were in college as it was a cheap food...but good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
