Visitors in the hospital?

Recommended Posts

I am having my Sleeve Surgery on July 8th, 2013 and a few family members would like to come for a visit to see how I am. I wanted to know if it is a good Idea for them to see me or is it a bad Idea? Thanks

ChefRod.

When I was in the hospital I didn't have visitors and was thankful for no visitors. I took advantage of the morphine drip and slept in a reclined position which helped with left in gases. I was very happy to go home on the 3rd morning. :P

It depends. Some people like to be left alone and people like me would rather have company.

I just had my hubby and oldest daughter with me. I know that I loved having them there because they encouraged me to get up and walk laps around the ward. It helped me tremendously because it got rid of the gas quickly, and because I walked so much the doctor said I didn't have to wear those horrible leg compression contraptions. It was also nice to have the company because when I am all doped up on pain killers I turn into a big talker with lots of energy. Weird but true. Lol :) good luck!

I wanted no visitors. My roommate had visitors who were so loud and inconsiderate. She was discharged that evening and left her TV on. i had to ask the housekeeper to turn it off. then I got a roommate during the night. her daughter came in early in the morning and talked loudly about nonsense...who came to see you..are the nurses mean... OMG I hardly slept at all. I was miserable in the hospital due to lack of sleep. Finally went home the next day and was able to start recovering!

Yes, it depends on your preference. Had my husband there the entire time (2 nights). No family because I didn't tell them. Didn't let my 2 best friends come see me as didn't want them to see me out of it. I think I probably would have tried to fight against my sleep trying to entertain them. So, I communicated with them via text.

Thank goodness I was in a private room. Very peaceful stay.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
