BMI Help!

Does anyone know if insurance companies specifically BCBS-IL will take a BMI of 39.7 as 40 or do I have to have 2 comorbidities in order to qualify since Im not ifficially at 40?

It's sad that I'm saying this but it's easier and more logical really to gain a few pounds to qualify for surgery that'll help shed 65-70% of our excess weight than to try to lose it on our own. Obviously we've tried and haven't succeeded if we are looking into WLS.

So Ive been to her once, can I go somewhere else and just wear weights or something, Im sure I'll only need a pound since Im at 39.7?

If its not over 40 they won't approve unless you have other issues. You are so close just eat, gain a couple pounds and go back. The surgeon just be helpful in wanting you to get approved.

Yes, with BCBS if your BMI is between 35-39 you must have 2 comorbid conditions to qualify. If you're close, I agree....just eat more until then! I have heard of people wearing loose legged pants and putting on ankle weights for their appointments though. They really don't ask you to disrobe or anything??? Might be an idea? Good luck!
