It's both. You will lose a lot in the beginning because your body goes into a state of ketosis in a low carb diet. This is a good thing. But after a while the weight loss will continue but at a slower pace, as long as you are following the plan and exercising.

Don't weigh yourself every day! Daily fluctuations don't tell you how you are really progressing. The best way to weigh yourself is once a week at the exact same time of day, as home scales aren't always accurate. I weigh myself at the gym.

It can't be stressed enough, don't weigh yourself every day. Once a week is best. Try not to think about the scale or put it out of sight. Now when Wednesday night comes I get excited because I know I weigh on Thursday. You will get a better picture of your loss and you won't get as disappointed if one day you are up or like a yo-yo.

Keep it up! Remember it is a marathon not a sprint and you will get there!

You will drive yourself nuts weighing yourself everyday. Stop now before it becomes a habit.

Our dysfunctional club has enough members. :P

Here's an idea. Only weigh yourself at the gym and throw out your house scale. Then you only get to weigh if you go to the gym or docs!! Built in reinforcement to go to the gym!!

I weigh a few times a week but not every day, it helps me keep my diet in check to know what is working for me and what is not,

I'm not sleeved yet but shud lose weight w all the hoops I'm jumpn thru but newhoo, when I was yo yo dieting, I use to weigh every day too. So I asked my hubby to hide the scales until that one day of the week I had to weigh, nd no matter how much I threaten him, lol, to not get them out until the following week! It helped tremendously. Lord willing nd I get sleeved finally, he'll have to do it again bc will power when it comes to the scales is my biggest enemy. So if u have som1 to hide them for u, then recruit them now. Gl:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
