Dawn, You are so close to "onderland" and then after that your goal is so close - bet you'll make it very soon............onederland and your goal! I'm a shrimp - 5'3" - don't look bad at the moment, but 20 or so more lbs and I'll be happy. It's certainly been many years since I've been able to make that statement.

Betty, seeing your ticker move is just the most exciting thing ever! Can you BELIEVE you're within 10 lbs of goal? That's incredible!! Keep up the exercise and I see below 175 in your NEAR future. Woohoo!

Kat, my new place is in a small building by NYC standards. There are 45 units in the building. I can't wait to move!

Eficka, you look fabulous! So thin....I'm glad you're feeling better about the band. For what it's worth, I find that if I check in with other bandsters when I'm feeling bad about the band, it helps me to rebound much faster. I hope you don't have a "next time" but if you do, tell us during it and we'll try to help you through it quicker.

My scale went the wrong direction this morning by just under a pound. That's part of my weight loss cycle though, so nothing to worry about. I had a great run yesterday, so I'm trying to focus on that. Fluctuations are normal (if I say it enough, I'm hoping I'll accept it).

Eficka, So happy to hear you're feeling better and are back on the "bandwagon"! I went off my antidrepressants about 3 months ago and just started back also................in just a week I'm feeling so much better......guess I won't fool around with them anymore. I got off all my other meds and just thought it would be nice to be med free...........didn't work so good. I started posting just about the time you went away from the group - welcome back - you look wonderful.

Julie, 169 is my mini goal (I think????) for now..........that will get me out of the obese catagory (I hate that word)...........and I'll only be overweight (that does sound better)...........then will decide from there where I want to be.............as you remember, just last week, I was thinking 180 was it................who knows how I'll feel next week? I'm getting on the scale everyday now and the downside is that when it goes up I get such a downer feeling.............but, I've decided that for now it is the best way for me to keep "with it". So - know how you feel about that lb up.............poop!

Today is a beautiful winter wonderland in the Portland, OR area.......we've got about 4 or 5 inches on the ground. It's so pretty..........and since we're retired and don't have to go out in it - no problem for us.........but, I'm going to be upset if tomorrow morning it's icy (we don't have 4 wheel drive) and I can't get to my NIA class. Today I think I'll kick back and just enjoy how pretty everything looks (you've got to remember I'm a transported So. Calif. girl and this is exciting to me).

Hi Betty,

I too can relate about enjoying the snow. I am from Southern Ontario originally and yeah we got winter there, but not like the Arctic. There is nothing like clean, crisp white snow and a clear sky.

Today I ran (-33 C) and it was glorious. The stars were still up and I felt strong... really amazing this transformation of mine.

It sounds like you are all working so hard.

How is the house going Julie?

Welcome (back) Eficka... your pictures are soooo lovely.

How are you Kat?

it seems we are all working hard. I just want to hit my January goal (of 205) and then you know what the next one will be( say hello to 'one'derland).

I have been busy working on our plans for our summer trip. I can't wait and I need the vacation too so!!!! I am excited.

Have a great day everyone.

Sounds like everyone is doing great!

As I told you on another thread Eva--it is great having you back--hang in there, they banded our tummies, not our entire emotional states!!! We think that by losing weight everything else will fall into place, and it doesn't always work that way. We will be here and help in any way we can--or at least commiserate!

Julie--sounds like a good size. I just wondered, I mean I have seen them take large houses and turn them into 2-4 apartments, and then I have seen the HUGE complexes---was just trying to picture what you were moving to!

Dawn--where are you going on vacation? How exciting!! We are talking about a couple of quick trips at this point, but have nothing big planned. We have a family reunion in Washington state the end of July. And are thinking of a trip to CA late spring sometime---just depends on work schedules and all.

Betty--glad you are enjoying the snow--ours is still about 8 inches in the yard, but it is solid ice now, nothing soft & fluffy about it. We finally made it into the double digit temperature wise just before noon. It sounds mild compared to Dawn---but I am in New Mexico for goodness sake---this is cold for us! I know what you mean about the goal---I need to drop another 3-4 pounds to lose the obese label, and drop into being overweight (who would have ever thought we would be cheering to be overweight!!!). Then another few pounds from there, and Onederland for me. BUT I am banging my head against the wall, and the scale seems glued to 208.5!!! It is pathetic! I am noticing my new bras, the band seems loose already, and a couple of my jeans, the 16's had to be retired, I could take them on and off, without unbuttoning or unzipping!!! So I guess things are just settling, even though there is no weight reduction. I will take what I can get. I know our moving more, and my new eating lifestyle is healthier, so it is alright, the rest will come. I am just impatient!

Susan---let us know how the back is---hope you are feeling much better!

Roberta--glad you are breathing a bit easier, hope the damp doesn't set you back. Asthma is so unpredictable. Did you have it as a child?

Well my dear sweet DGD, just grabbed my book off of the end table and lost my place----little darling that she is!!! Guess that means she wants my attention, surely she doesn't really want my book!!!

Betty, you are doing so great with your weight!! I think the skys the limit with you, Dawn, and Julie. You three are just awesome.

Kat, I waited until I was about 54 to develop asthma...nothing better to do I guess. I had allergies when I was in my early teens but outgrew them. Who would have guessed that as an adult this would have happened. Not feeling too great today, so no exercise done. Anyone heard from Susan and Bluehill?

Eficka, you are adorable! It is fun to see pics!

I'm just checking in. It seems January is the month for home improvement! It is fun to read of Julie's new apartment and Kat's beautiful gift. We've all been improving our bodies and now we seem to be beautifying our surroundings.

We are remodeling most of the house right now. It is exciting, but what a mess! (And they haven't started the kitchen, yet!) I get to choose everything, except for the girls' section of the house.

Kat's story of having the mural painted for her DGD made me smile. I love to paint, but there are no castles here. I've been painting my teenage daughters' rooms! No longer do we have a pink princess bedroom, or the buttercream yellow room with dainty wrought Iron beds. One now has modern taste (black, white, taupe, burgundy) and one is into elegant/shabby chic (is that an oxymoron?) with a chandelier and pearlescent walls. In their shared bathroom, they are negotiating a "Betsey Johnson" look(?) Obviously, this is one area I let them explore and do whatever they like! But I miss those sweet little girly rooms!

WTG, Betty!! I'm still waiting for the scale to drop. Normally, I gain weight and hit a high in February, so I am trying to appreciate the plateau!

Speaking of BMI, I checked mine and it is 27! I am "borderline"!! I really want to lose 30 more pounds, but am thrilled to have passed through "overweight" so quickly.

Ladies, that "ONEDERLAND" is ALMOST here for everybody!!! How shall we Celebrate? ?

Just wanted to chime in and let you guys know you really give me inspiration. I was banded April 13th and have only lost 30 lbs because of hormone issues. My goal this year is to find the right Doctor and get this mess figured out once and for all so I can get to goal. I'm happy the scales are moving in the right direction, just want it to be a little faster.

Keep up the good work!

Miper - 30 lbs less is 30 lbs less...................yeah for you! Join us in our exercise challenge..............we'd love to have you along for our healthy life style change.

Boo..............yeah for #1 in reaching "overweight"............we're all right behind you..........keep it warm for us!

Well, that pretty stuff is now sitting on the ground freezing and I don't think I'm going to make it to the gym any time soon..............will have to improvise with on-demand TV exercise classes! I'll see what I can find for today. I don't even own any shoes that would work to go outside and walk...........even if I wasn't such a wuss about the cold.

Good for you Miper70, as Betty said...30#'s less is 30#'s less. I hope your physician can help get things sorted out for you.

Just did a 45 min dance exercise video on the on-demand channel........not much fun, but I did sweat a bit! Can't wait till this pretty stuff melts off - we actually just got home from the grocery, drove slow and all was well - stocked up just in case we get some more snow? I know, I know - Dawn and Kat are laughing at me! Hopefully I can get back to the gym on Friday. Alan and I are going to brave it tomorrow morning and walk to Breakfast.< /p>

Guess what Alan is doing to me...........I'm getting close to his weight, but the nasty guy is losing weight on me........he was 176 a couple of weeks ago, but this morning he weighed in at 171.5 (he gave up his non-fat evening ice cream - wish it was that easy for me)..............we shall see, he usually maintains right around 175..........see if he can hold it.........his goal is to get into the 160's..........I'm "routing" for him (but not too hard).

Boo, If I understand correctly, you're now actually in the borderline "normal" range now, right? WOOHOO!!!!!! A normal BMI!! I can't believe it! How completely awesome. Congratulations. I'm in awe.

Miper70, Like you said, the scale is moving in the right direction. Think how many years we all gained 30 lbs and this year you lost it! Plus, there are still 3 months left in your first year. You're going to get your hormone issues resolved and be at goal in no time. Even if you have to take it 30 at a time. I'd take it!

Betty, you'll catch him, I promise! Even if he gets to the 160s, you're going to too, so I have no concerns. Go Betty!

As for me, I've had a weird couple of days. No exercise. Yesterday, I "accidentally" spent 3 hours at the nail salon. I was with a friend who wanted to get a mani pedi and I went along because she was staying with me and I wanted her to have a good time. Anyway, I've bitten my nails to the quick my whole life. Next thing I knew, I was getting fake nails. That's really not me, but I guess I'm changing a lot right now. They say I have to wear these fake ones for about 6 weeks until I break the biting habit, then they'll have grown enough to "silk wrap" them instead of having fake ones. I'll always keep them short, but looking a little more feminine and well kept would be a good thing.

I had the first person not recognize me today because of the weight loss. Someone who had only known me heavy and hadn't seen me since September and flat out didn't know me. Weird, but kind of cool.

Back to the gym tomorrow, I promise.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
