Juice squeeze? Carbonation?

Recommended Posts

I am four months post op and was wondering if anyone has tried this fruit drink that is "lightly carbonated"? What's everyone's experience with carbonation? Wat was your doctors time frame for it?

My carbonation is only restricted for the first thirty days, although I'll go super slow with a Diet Coke if I'm not too scared to try it then!

I am 7 months out and have started having a diet soft drink a couple times a week. It gives me extra gas sometimes but that is the only thing I have noticed.

I was led to believe that any carbonation was banded for life. Something about the carbonation irritating the sleeve and causing weight gain.

With my surgeon it is an absolute NEVER! But as you see on here, every surgeon is different and you should go by what your surgeon says. :)

Thanks for the response. This is frustrating, I wish there was a definite answer on this. When surgeons all have different advice it makes me think they are just going by opinions and not fact.

They definitely are - THEIR opinion of what has worked (or not) for the patients they treat. I know my doc reads a ton of medical journals (we often compare science - I'm a former high school science teacher), but I'd rather my doctor be comfortable with what goes in my body and how to treat my new tool than anyone online. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
