So my long road just took a sharp curve in the right direction, I have had sooo much anxiety regarding this insurance that I about gave myself an ulcer. So to anyone with Priority Health ins in Michigan, I can give a thumbs up. It was less than a week for my approval. I will call today for my date prob aug sometime, I wanted to do July but have family coming to visit and don't want to be recovering.,( I am a "low BMIer, 40.4 to start and 40.7 at final weigh in, I am 5' 7 and about 262 no cormorbs)

This site has been wonderful, tons if info and support for me. I spoke to my surgeon about it, he said I was very "informed" and I said it was due to this site.

Anyway, I'm working my last day before vacation, so off I go, till next time....

Congrats on getting approved.

P.S. Please hold off on the throwing up till you're in the pre-op liquid diet - that way it will count towards your pre-op weight loss. :wacko:about-to-vomit.gif

Hi. I also have Priority Health and was wondering about the food logs. Did you fill those out and turn them in every monthly visit? My BMI is 43 and I have high blood pressure and sleep apnea. I am about 3 months into my 6 month dr. supervised diet requirement and have not lost anything or turned in any food journals. Just not sure what to expect from priority health when this 6 months is over with and I try to get approved for surgery. Thanks!

My Dr office took care of the logs, they required me to track what I ate on my fitness pal and print it out for a couple of the visits to see how I was doing. Otherwise the monthly visit would take care of that part, they would enter in my food and workouts, weight and BP. As long as your DR has it together you should be fine. Mine was an expert at dealing with prioritys ins requirements, I never missed an apt that is important and make sure they are around the same time each month. Let me know if these anything else I can help you with.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
