I am scheduled for a lower body lift, inner thigh lift and breast lift with implants on July 26!! I'm super excited..... However am going to be traveling to Mexico for this alone. I'm pretty nervous about it. I had my sleeve done in Mexico but had a travel partner, so it wasn't as nerve racking.

Has anyone had procedures done while traveling by themselves? What was your experience, and any suggestions or tips would be great!!

Oh and I will be in Monterrey Mexico for a total of 12 days while I recover. I'm not as worried about my care while there as if I need to stay in the hospital for whatever reason I can, and if I'm well enough I will be at the hotel. My biggest concern is more with the flights and travel. I would like to hear about how flying was, if anyone experienced layovers and how they managed with walking and luggage. My flights are going to be about 12-20 hrs long with layovers and stops.

Did anyone need to request any thing special on the plane. How did you sit for so long??

Wow! That really sounds like a lot to do alone! I sure hope it goes well for you. I am to chicken to do it alone. I am having my Tummy Tuck in September and my breast lift in October...but I am having them done about 20 miles from my home, and I have plenty of help. I couldn't imagine going it alone! I sure hope all goes well for you. Try to post before and afters if you feel comfortable doing so for those of us who are going to have plastics done! :) good luck to you!

I would suggest finding a travel partner ASAP. Having been through the makeover (NOT thighs tho) I would never go it alone. My husband took great care if me- and I NEEDED it

I couldn't lift or pull ANYthing. And luggage and security, boarding, sitting, all that I needed help. I could only lift the weight of my drains in my fanny pouch. I Used my legs a LOT- so the legs- ouch.

Yeah I would suggest finding someone to go with you! You'll be glad you did! I promise!

I really really wish I could find someone to go with me, but even with months notice, not a single friend or family member can go with me. The dr says that there are a number of patients that do travel alone, so am hoping to find any suggestions as to what would make it easier.

I'm a seasoned traveler that travels extensively for work & my brother works for the airlines;) Here are my suggestions should you be doing this "alone" contact the airlines notify them that you will need a shuttle and wheelchair. They airline will provide you with someone to help you to your destination, and have an airport shuttle meet you at your gate and take you were you need to go. Also, notify the gate when you arrive the flight attendants will board you first as well as any carry on you have, just be sure to let them know of any assistance you will need. That is what they are there for :) I hope this helps:)

So all that surgery can be done in one day? How long will you be under general anesthesia? I am just curious cuz soon I will be starting this same research for myself.

Id say ask the airport staff to help you may want to say in the hospital a little bit because get up and down to the bathroom is really ruff for like a week. I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you everyone:) I will be contacting the airport for sure. Was there any items that were an absolute must to pack? I'm hoping to pack very light and as I will be out of commission I plan on only taking a couple of light dresses and necessities. I have purchased a female urinal as I have heard it will be very difficult to use the bathroom. What about bandages... What is the best.

The surgery I will be having a epideral/spinal with twilight sedation. This allows for you to remain on the table and have more procedures at one time. I'm not sure how long it will take.

For those who did travel for ps what was the plane like? Any suggestions of how to be comfortable? Did anyone have to do plane transfers or layovers. Any suggestions or comments are welcome!!

Please keep us update through your process. My only option for plastics will be MX so I am very interested in hearing about your experience. Do you mind sharing who your doctor is?

Your bravery amazes me! Please keep us posted. I never heard of a female urinal. That would have been handy a few times in my life.

I have travelled to Tijuana for some PS and did have assistance at the airport. I have heard that when you have a thigh lift you can't sit for a couple of weeks. I don't know how you will be able to sit up straight on the plane. Please inquire about this. I had my arms done and also could not lift anything. The flight attendants made me ask a passenger to lift my luggage for me. I guess because I didn't "look" sick they didn't really know what was wrong with me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
