Just wondering if anyone else is having an anxiety about the permanence of the surgery. I'm very eager for the procedure but can't seem to escape the little voice in my head reminding me that this is irreversible. I know that if I could have loss the weight unassisted then I would have long ago. Idk just wondering if I'm the only one?!?

You are not alone. My date is not until September and my anxiety is crazy. I try hard to calm down but lately it is not working.

It's normal to feel that way, I had my surgery last week. What gave me that final push was that if I don't have the surgery, my morbid obesity would increase my chances of serious health problems. So, I needed to do this surgery to use it as the tool it is to decrease my chances of having those serious health issues. .

Roller coaster ride! that is how to best describe the feelings in pre surgery state. I was sleeved May 29th and I can understand all those feelings and thoughts that are going on inside of you. Please understand that this is more than normal and I have talked to many people who have felt this way. Yes, is something that can't be undone but it's the best thing I have ever done to myself. I feel great and am so thankful that there is help for all those who struggle and need to start over again. Good luck to you!

Once you have it done, it´s great! The fact that it is irreversable is the beaty of it. It forces you to be healthy for the rest of your life. You can still eat whatever you want, just in small quantities. The thing is that your craving for sugar might go away (mine did) and your desire for junk food might also decrease. I believer that it is very important to have the right mindset for this change. I see it as a big opportunity to stay healthy and fit. As a famous model once said. "Nothing taste as good as being skinny feels"

We ALL did. But I was tired of "permanent fat" as well...

I was seriously second guessing myself for the weeks prior to the surgery. That first week and a half AFTER sugery I even had HUGE buyers remorse.

But I am now losing my fat. My chances of having diabetes, which runs strong in my family, are going down. My blood pressure is already low enough to get me off of that med. I'm going to be able to sit in stadium seating and not get "stuck.' I will soon be able to shop in the misses section of the store. My list goes on and on.....

I am happy with my decision. :0)

I was going insane with doubts about what I was doing to my body....after going through my list of pros/cons with my hubby of having the surgery vs. not, and he kindly grilling my decision, I had my answer....I still have the what ifs going through my mind, but I think that's healthy and normal....Good luck!

I am set for August and I have been driving myself nuts. I keep thinking well maybe I should try Weight Watchers again or give Atkins another try... Because I am sure the 101 time it will work...

Just keep reading others results! It keeps me going...

I am 8 days PO and I can assure you I was nervous and second guessing my decision on the way to the hospital!!! It is a big change and it is a good sign that you take this seriously! I woke up from surgery thinking I had made a mistake... I was scared! But things got better quickly for me and I have been doing great! Keep reading the success stories. I have had a textbook recovery so far and am down 13 lbs since surgery day. Best of luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
