Protein Powder is pre mixed into all of my gross disgusting processed manufactured pre op diet food.

Does all Protein powder smell and taste bad, or should I just assume this company uses a gross brand to make their products??

I need some suggestions on good tasting protein powder.

My surgery is scheduled for July 16ty, but I had lapband surgery 4 yrs ago and had to use Protein powders. I spent $160 on GNC.com and hated everything I got. My nurse said drink Isopure Fruit drinks. They taste like Jolly Ranchers. They don't. Not even close. Couldn't drink even 1.

I bought a $15 jug pf Protein powder from Walmart (can't remember the name) and it was ok. Not great but not gaggy. This time I thought Id try to sampled a few brands/flavors before I actually need them. Last week I got my 12 sampled pkt of various flavors from Syntra nectar. I've only tried one (roadside lemonade) and its darn good. I ordered some unflavored Syntra nectar so I can add it to my own drinks (juice, smoothies, pudding, etc). Haven't gotten it yet but I've heard good things about Nectar.

My advise: go to Amazon.com and browse the protein powders. Many brands will send u sample packs for pretty cheap. Try a few before u take a mortgage out and buy sguff u hate.

Good luck...

Btw, its Syntrax Nectar. My spellcheck on my phone is working overtime lately. Hopefully it actually comes out with an x at the end, not Syntra

I use Unjury and I can't smell or taste it at all (in unflovored). They can send you a sample pack. They also ship FAST.

I really love the Syntrax nectar in vanilla bean torte, chocolate truffle, and double stuffed cookie. I make a double shake and mix 2 scoops of powder to 8 oz Water and 8 oz unsweetened vanilla almond milk. The chocolate truffle with the almond milk tastes like melted chocolate almond ice cream,....no aftertaste!

I also like the unjury strawberry sorbet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
