I was sleeved in April. I am a former Pepsi addict. I drank a cup of Pepsi last week, and my stomach did not react well to it. I guess it's the carbonation, but it felt like a balloon kept inflating and deflating in my stomach for hours. Kind of hard to describe the sensation, but I won't be drinking Pepsi anytime soon!

Has anyone drank coke while on their post op diet?? Just wondering. If so, were there consequences?

I haven't had a sip of coke since before surgery, three years ago!

For the record, I feel like I totally am NOT on a diet anymore, for the first time in 30 years, I was always not having something because I shouldn't. I seldom ever had a coke prior to surgery, maybe four or five fountain coke a year. I choose not to have them now, I was told not to. I was not told to not have fried zucchini but I don't, just because. Nothing is for free, without some give and take. I use to feel deprived and guilty all the time, constantly....now, I NEVER feel deprived. Life is much easier, but I still make choices and resist when I need to....less tummy just makes it easier. I'm not sure why the guilt is gone, but it is.

I kicked the habit in December. I think I saw someone say that they've used the Soda Stream flavor bottles to flavor non-carbonated Water. I haven't felt the urge, so I haven't tried it myself. I think that not having soda for so long now.. it just wouldn't taste too good.

I was a diet pepsi addict. I averaged about 4 a day. When I look back I can't believe it! Anyway, I had surgery in September and it has been easy for me to avoid soda. I did have some regular coke when I had a stomach bug a few months ago - but I did put it in the blender to get the bubbles out so it was flat when I had it.

I have had a few sips here and there with no issues at all. Though I don't drink it often :)

I just don't have enough hours in the day to balance eating and drinking only to waste an hour of it on soda that won't count towards my hydration LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
