Guest Jason Cody Posted July 3, 2013 I new I was going to get this surgery a year prior so I really adjusted my diet. I knew that there was going to be a "zero" carbonation stipulation especially soda. I removed myself from my soda addiction 8 months prior to surgery. The first month and a half was very very hard. After the second month it was easier but every once in a blue moon I will get a craving; I typically will have a small orange juice to curb the craving. My doc and nut said that zero carbonation for the first three weeks after surgery and the goal is to eliminate it all together for those who can. 2 Brenda0928 and Ms skinniness reacted to this
Doing It 4 Them 84 Posted July 3, 2013 I haven't had surgery yet but I know that I can't have it so I stopped drinking them in April. I really haven't missed it much yet. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
awifeinmichigan 233 Posted July 3, 2013 I am pre-op and a former Coca Cola addict. I have gone cold turkey as a way of disciplining myself for my future sleeve. It is hard but the battle will be worth it. 3 Ms.AntiBand, Brenda0928 and poppet reacted to this
Dreamingofhealth 223 Posted July 3, 2013 I am pre-op and a former Coca Cola addict. I have gone cold turkey as a way of disciplining myself for my future sleeve. It is hard but the battle will be worth it. I am pre-op as well. I haven't had diet Pepsi in over 7 weeks... It has been the toughest thing ever! I am severely addicted to it. I had headaches and dizziness for the first week, but now I feel much better. I'm also noticing that my stomach feels better and I don't have heartburn anymore! It's been tough, but for me personally I wanted to give it up because its been a struggle being obese and I want to make ANY and EVERY change possible to beat this battle once and for all. Good luck with your journey! Sheena :-) 3 Brenda0928, Ms skinniness and Doing It 4 Them reacted to this

sharonintx 1,275 Posted July 3, 2013 Since you asked, I'm 4 mos out and am having half a glass of Pepsi right this minute. I do understand that sleeve people aren't supposed to have it. I've had carbonated beverages 4-5 times since about 3 weeks post op. I can't drink more than 5-6 sips before I start getting full. It takes a long time to drink half a glass. I will say that there have been no consequences from it. I still lose weight, i do not stretch my sleeve, and it does not make me crave even more bad things. Some will disagree, but I didn't get this sleeve to be on a strict diet or refuse myself the things I want. Moderation is the key and quite frankly, who can really drink or eat much at all (good or bad) with 15% of your stomach left? Not me that's for sure. I don't deny myself anything at all. My behavior has not triggered: binge eating, holes or leaks in my sleeve, stretching of my sleeve, complete loss of control in making good and healthy decisions. If ya want a little Coke then have it. Be warned that it will make you full very quickly and you may burp the rest of the day. 2 goddess04 and jessica bowling reacted to this
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted July 3, 2013 I don't drink any carbonated beverages and havent or years simply for the fact it doesn't have anything good in it.. And most likely harmful ingredients. The only purpose for drinking soda is for self indulgence and I'm over that and find better-for-me things to indulge in. 4 Brenda0928, amytug, NtvTxn and 1 other reacted to this
