Any other July 1st sleevers home?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery at 7:30 am yesterday and my doctor discharged me this afternoon. I was up just about every hour to pee last night. That wasn't good for my sleep, but it did get me moving around.

Mine was at 8am yesterday and I'm already home. They practically kicked me out and said I was god enough to come home. I disagreed, but the promised I'd be okay. I had a 3 hour ride home and I AM HURTING. I was not one of the lucky ones who had an easy surgery... it's been rough every step. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. God luck to all the other July Firsters!

Can I be in your July First group? Mine was 6/24 just a week earlier. They kept me on hospital 4 days and I was up walking first day! Everything went great! I guess all dr's are different. My start weight prior to 2 week liquid was 277 then at hospital before surgery 262. As of this morning I am 257! That's incentive for me!!

I was at Victory Hospital in Houston. I was feeling good and am not worried about being at home. I'm just glad to be off of the IV fluids. My IV's don't last long and they needed to start a new line in the middle of the night. I've had 1 c-section and 2 unmedicated child births (one to a 9 lb. 1 oz baby), so I kind of feel like this wasn't so bad. I start of full liquids tomorrow and will see how I do with that.

Mine was July 1st in the morning and I'm still in hospital. Will go home this afternoon. Having a hard time. Lots of chest discomfort. Plus my IV fell out and they could not get back in so had to switch to liquid pain med which I'm having some trouble getting down. Feels like everything I swallow is getting stuck in my chest. I also threw up a little last night after taking my medicine too fast I guess.

My doctor has still only allowed Water and clear Protein but I think that's all I can handle.

I also had my surgery on july 1st with Dr.Bina in Houston. I came home yesterday around noon. Sipping and walking. I have to admit my body is “waking up" from the anesthesia and if you think its air your trying to let out think again ...RUN to the restroom .. there is no warning .. sorry if Its Tmi but it just happened to me. Time for a shower .. but listen to your body

I was sleeved yesterday around 9:30 am and I was sent home this morning around 9 am. I too had to keep getting up to pee. The pain is pretty bad around the sights. I am on liquid lortab every 6 hours but have been taking it every 5. I just can't seem to get comfortable sitting or laying. When I walk around I feel like by belly is pulling me down right now. Hope this gets better tomorrow. I know am and only 1 day out. My gas pains in the chest cavity were the worst yesterday. Here's looking forward to tomorrow!

My sleeve procedure was around 11:00 a.m. on Monday (July 1st); I just came home today (Wednesday). I've concentrated on walking around a lot to try to tame the mega-painful extra-large gas bubbles that rumble around every single time I swallow any liquid (clear or full, doesn't matter).

My trochar sites are still sore and I'm having to pee pretty often, but that's no biggie. I'd just like to be able to take teeny sips of Soup or Crystal Light without feeling like my stomach is trying to take up a new yoga routine. Owie.

I ended up in hospital for two nights due to some complications, but arrived home today. I look like I'm 9 months pregnant as I'm so bloated. I really hope the gas starts to subside as it is causing me a lot of pain.

I'm was sleeved July 1st at 7:30 and home by 1:00 on Tuesday. I felt really good when I was leaving the hospital but after the ride home, things went a little down hill. I was so nauseated last night that I was in tears and having some serious doubts about what I had gotten myself into. I know a lot of it was the pains meds and I am feeling much better today but still having bouts of nausea! Also, everything I swallow feels like it gets stuck for about 2 seconds and then the pain goes away. I think its just gas but I don't want to pass it off if its something more serious.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
