Hi there! powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury products don't have sugar alcohols and are very low carb/high, good quality Protein. Look at unjury.com their chicken Soup is a great source of Protein also and a staple for me the first weeks out.

Good luck!!

I have similar problems with sugar alcohols - but find I can tolerate Unjury (delicious, in my opinion), and Jay Robb's Protein is sweetened with Stevia (if you don't mind the pompous picture of him on his products, hehe).

Hmm, unfortunately Truvia *is* Stevia, but I feel like at least with the Jay Robb ones, the stevia aftertaste isn't too bad compared to adding Truvia to things (I threw away a box of that after trying it in my coffee...blech).

I really like the cappuccinos and the Fruit Drinks from American Bariatrics - and no sugar alcohols. I just had my first experience with sugar alcohols in the Big Train Fit Frappe drink mixes - brutal - my system did not do well with it.

Nice - I will check those out too. My dentist was pushing the xylitol products, which I hadn't realized were a sugar alcohol, because they are supposedly good for teeth, but holy cow, I was pretty sure i was going to die after adding some of that to my coffee too! I actually cried I was in so much pain. Just say no!

This might be worth a try too - http://www.teraswhey.com/

I got some of that at Whole Foods and it was horrible. Really tasty smell!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
