Ljones1 48 Posted July 2, 2013 Have any of you here talked to your doxtor about the risk of tour gallbladder being removed due to WLS? This has me nervous.
kailie 238 Posted July 2, 2013 I had mine out when I was 16 so I don't have to worry about it. But there's a very good chance you will need it removed! At the rate you loose weight with WLS gallstones are nearly impossible to avoid
chickadee73 57 Posted July 2, 2013 I had my gall bladder out after losing a great deal of weight two years ago. I now realize it was probably related to losing so much so fast. It was removed laparascopically, four or five tiny little incisions, took about a week to recover. No big deal really. I don't even notice that it is gone. I don't think it's worth worrying over. 1 Lilechka reacted to this

PainInTheGlass 50 Posted July 2, 2013 My doc put me on Ursodiol for 6 months post op to keep me from getting gallstones. (Ursodiol is also called Actigall)
melissa130 135 Posted July 2, 2013 my doctor put me on Actigal for 6 months also. To prevent gallstones. Ask your doctor about it. NOT everybody that loses weight will have trouble with the gallbladder. But it would make me nervous that your doc hasn't talked to you about this.
Ljones1 48 Posted July 2, 2013 Thanks will Talk to her.
Sassygirl06 962 Posted July 2, 2013 The risk is in the first few months. I never took anything...never had an issue. The doc takes a look at it while he is doing the sleeve to see if you already have gallstones. If you do he will remove it during your sleeve surgery. BigDGal50@gmail.com 4 Posted July 2, 2013 I had my gall bladder removed, hiatal hernia repaired, scar tissue taken down and sleeve all lapascopically and did fine!! I had my hiatal hernia repaired, liver biopsy and sleeve done laprascopically. I am 5 days post op, and I am having terrible pains on left side of chest, what feels like on top of heart, just under breast and ribs. I think this is from the hernia repair, but could it be something else? Let me know if you had anything like this happen post op. Thanks.
