When I lost my husband 6 yrs ago, I ballooned up from 200 to 250 lbs. I was never gunna date again. Almost 4 yrs ago, I moved 3,000 mi away to start over. And had the lapband placed. It took about a year and I lost 75 lbs. I decided to start dating again (about 3 yrs after hubby died). Had about 15 dates for coffee or lunch. Then I met my now-husband. He had recently lost 80 lbs too, using Atkins. We had so much in common. A year later (2011) we got married. Im so happy. In the year we were together before getting married, I lost another 30 lbs.

Yes, go for it! There's all kinds of posts out there on whether or not to tell your dates about wls. I told everyone I had a meal with. Im pretty open about it tho. There was no point in telling those I just had coffee with. I never got a negative reponse. Most were eager to learn about it.

Now that I've gained 30 lbs back (band slip), Im the same weight as when I met hubby. He still luvs me tho! Good luck dating...its definitely not for the faint of heart

Btw, I met my husband online. I paid $250 for a year of Eharmony, never met one guy. Paid $110 for 6 mths of Match.com, met 2 guys there. Most of my dates (including hubby) were found on Plenty of Fish. For free. You'll have to weed out the weirdos alot mlre on a free site, but I advise anyone to give it a try

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
