Help...I have'nt been on the sight for a long, long, time. I was banded a year ago in Jan. I started out of the gates just fine, doing what I was supposed with diet and excercise. I lost my mother suddenly 6 months ago and fell off the wagon completely. I did not care about anything. I am very depressed because this is a year later and I wanted to have a substantial amount of weight off and of course do not.

Any suggestions for getting back on? I need help!!!!:help: :help: :help:

Just pick yourself up and begin anew. That is the wonderful thing about the band, it is there waiting for the time to be right for you. ~Mandy

The great thing about the band, it is always there when your ready to use it. So, lets get started. Its a new year, and you can do this!

PS - I am sorry for the loss of your mother, I know that must have been difficult.

Hey Kim

I lost my mom too. I also gained most of my weight after the loss of my parents. I was banded in Oct and I always think about my mom and how she didn't want weight to be an issue for me like it was for her. When she was alive she always said "don't make the same mistakes I made".

Anyway, I know feel like I am taking control of my life again and I just KNOW that my mother is proud of me for doing it!

good luck with your journey. Its a long road but one worth traveling!

Kim..Don't beat yourself up over it. I know what it is like to be an emotional eater. Even someone who isn't, could tend to look to food with such a great loss. Look on the bright side, you have still lost 31lbs. It's a new year and you can't go back so just start from here so you don't look back next year with the same regrets. I wish you all the best and I am truly sorry for the loss of your mother.

I would see if you need a fill first. That should help you out. YOu can do this. Just take a mental note as to why you were banded in the first place. Love your band and treat it with respect. YOu will bounch back quicker than you think. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
