Karnie 66 Posted July 2, 2013 Hi Everyone, I'm five days post op and when I swallow my chest feels sore. I'm assuming this is my esophagus that is a little irritated. Just wondering if this is part of the healing or should I be concerned. I took the meds for acid reflux...no change. Tried cold Water and warm tea and warm soup...no difference. Anyone else experience this?
Mrs.RRn 2,111 Posted July 2, 2013 Well they did stick a pipe in your esophagus 5 days ago. Lol. I think some soreness is ok. As long as its not real pain.
chinamama 104 Posted July 2, 2013 Also did you have a hiatal hernia repair?
Karnie 66 Posted July 2, 2013 Also did you have a hiatal hernia repair? No, they said the surgery went great. No complications. I might be expecting too much.

Right? :-) I don't want to over react but I also don't want to ignore something that might be serious. Guess I'll give it a few more days and see if it gets better. Thanks. 1 Mrs.RRn reacted to this
nanabanana 19 Posted July 2, 2013 Im 3 days post op and Ive been having the same problem!!! When I woke up after surgery I sounded like I was having an asthma attack from the panic and the pain. I could barely breathe. The first day after I had chest pains constantly from the gasses and all the soreness but walking really helped relieve them. Now im still a bit sore on my left lung and my throat but each day it gets better. Good luck!
