Get a Disposable Camera Prior to Surgery!

Recommended Posts

Go get one - You won't regret it' date=' I promise!!!

I read on one of these forums prior to my surgery that we should get a disposable camera and have somebody take your picture the day before or the day of surgery.

Every month on your surgery 'date' have someone take your picture. After you 1 year anniversary picture is taken, take the camera and have it developed.

I did this and I am soooo glad I did. There is nothing quite like laying those pictures side by side and seeing your transformation over the past year. One of the best suggestions I got beforehand! [/quote']

Thanks babes for the tip :))

Kathy' date=' you look GREAT!!!! I've told a lot of people about this, this is the first time I've made it a 'topic'. I guess I should do it every few months so newbies will see it!!!! :)[/quote']

Yeah I agree :))) I'm a Newbie

Thanks again honey !

I think the disposable idea (and I cannot take credit for it' date=' someone else was the brilliant one!!) is because you cannot look back and with a digital, there may be 10, 15, 75 other random pictures, in between monthly pictures. With the disposable, you have 4x6 pictures to lay down on the floor, bar, kitchen table....side by side and you haven't looked back at month #4 fifteen times previously!!! It's just really neat to have real, "old fashioned" pictures there in front of you!![/quote']

Awesome I agree :))

Love the idea' date=' but I like doing it digitally, because I would worry about losing or misplacing the disposable camera or having something go wrong with it. With an iPhone or digital camera, you can back up on your computer or a flash drive in addition to having it on the device with the camera.[/quote']

I think that's exactly what I'm gonna do! Create a desktop folder just for this purpose and load the new pics ritually. I will be creating my folder tonight!

Another option is if you use a smart phone you can sign up for a free photobucket account and at a folder and then upload the photos directly from the phone to the photobucket folder.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
