ent4life 0 Posted July 1, 2013 Hello all, new to the forums. I had my surgery may 20,2013. I had the lapband for the year prior but had zero help from that. I've noticed almost after everytime I eat a good sized meal, I don't mean over stuffing to the point of feeling sick, I just mean FULL, that I get these waves/constant hot flashes that last for a little bit of time. Anyone else experiencing this?

Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted July 1, 2013 Some people experience that when the food contains too much sugar and fats or eat just a little bit too much. It's a sign that your body doesn't like what you just put in it. Can you share what you ate.... I read all labels and don't eat anything that has sugar or corn in it..... Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted July 1, 2013 I agree with the skinniness lady above. Adjust your carbs and see f that works 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
Susie in Lima 320 Posted July 1, 2013 My surgeon told me that if I eat too much it will cause hot flashes and even the symptoms of a heart attack. He told me if that ever happens to me, to just walk, walk, walk. It happened to me once and I began to sweat and breathe hard etc, I havent made that mistake ever since! Have a super day! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

Molly Sleeved 36 Posted July 1, 2013 This sounds like dumping syndrome to me. Was it high in carbs, sugar, or fats?
annab 6 Posted July 2, 2013 Yes! This happens to me. I'm almost a year out, it happens periodically, but I cannot seem to pinpoint what the culprit is. Seems like it happens when I get too full... but sometimes I can eat more than others, so not sure what signals the brain to do that! Interesting phenomenon. I spoke to my nutritionist about it at my 6 month, and she said she had never heard of that before! hmmm.... sounds like it's much more common than I thought! it passes quickly, though. xchubba 5 Posted July 2, 2013 I'm 9 days post-op & I too have had a few of these "hot flashes." it definitely happens if I drink my 11 ounce Protein Drink too fast! At first I would even have a headache with it!
ent4life 0 Posted July 2, 2013 It doesn't really seem to matter what I eat I think it's just a " I ate too much to fast" type thing. It's more annoying than anything, I wish it was winter so I could just stand outside haha. I try to under eat just to avoid that overly full almost acidic issue atleast I feel when I eat too much. So for me I've found under eating and I just mean like 2-3 bites less leaves me enough room to feel content and not sick. This truly is a balancing act . It's funny for the person who said to walk because when the hot flashes come I don't want anyone to even talk to me and I just wanna walk haha it's the weirdest thing. Oh well old habits for hard, thank god it's not a everyday thing!
Newgirl54 19 Posted July 2, 2013 I am so glad I am not alone. I do believe it happens when you eat too fast, at least for me. However, I will be more careful with the carbs and sugar.
